Two police officers were shot this morning when a gunman opened fire at a Walmart in eastern Arkansas. The cops returned fire, fatally shooting the perpetrator, identified by Sheriff Bobby May as Bobby Joe Gibbs. The shooting was reported mid-morning in Forrest City, about 85 miles east of Little Rock, a dispatcher with the Forrest City Police Department confirmed.

A 17-year-old high school student from Florida was leaving school to go to a dental appointment when a sheriff's deputy blocked his way and threatened to shoot him for truancy. The incident took place at River Ridge High School in Pasco County a week before Christmas, but the student's mother, Nedra Miller, has only recently obtained the school resource officer's body camera video and shared it on Facebook.

A Maryland public high school launched an investigation Monday after photos of a Nazi flag hanging in a classroom window went viral over the weekend. Several people visiting Governor Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick, located in central Maryland about 50 miles from both Baltimore and Washington D.C., said they saw the flag in the classroom window while on campus for a school basketball game Friday night. Photos of the flag then began to circulate on social media. Facebook user Nicole Hopkins originally posted the photo of the flag in the classroom window. Her post was then shared by another user, according to Frederick News Post, which then received nearly 400 shares and more than 700 comments as of Monday.

The #NYPD is releasing today body-worn camera footage from a police involved shooting that occurred on October 23, 2019 where an officer was shot and wounded and a naked armed man shot dead during short gun battle, in the confines of the 32nd Precinct. The video includes body-worn camera footage, CCTV footage and radio transmissions leading up to the incident as well as during the incident. The NYPD is releasing this video for clear viewing of the totality of the incident, and has also posted the entire unedited body-worn camera videos for each of the officers involved in the incident.

A Louisiana man pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to intentionally setting three historically black churches on fire early last year. Holden Matthews, 22, said he burned the churches to raise his profile as a “black metal” musician, according to a press release from the Department of Justice. The genre became inextricably linked to the crime after a series of high-profile church burnings were committed in Norway in the early 1990s. Matthews is charged with three counts of violating the Church Arson Prevention Act — one count for each church — as well as one count of using fire to commit a federal felony. His sentencing is scheduled for May 22, 2020. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a statutory maximum sentence of 70 years in prison if convicted.
