Devastating bushfires burning across Australia have generated massive clouds of smoke that can be seen from outer space. Stunning footage from NASA shows how smoke billowing from the country's east coast has created a cloud bigger than the area of the continental United States. Image taken by the SuomiNPP satellite in space on New Year's Day showed the large palls before they merged into an enormous mass that has since travelled across the southern hemisphere. 🔥

A Florida woman escaped unharmed, but not without a citation, after she lost control of an SUV and crashed into a community swimming pool on Saturday, authorities said. Audrey Bullitt-Reeves, 56, freed herself from the partially submerged 2007 Mazda CX-9 by crawling through a rear window, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) told @police_frequency. The FHP released photos of the SUV sticking out of the pool. The vehicle’s front end was submerged up to the driver and front passenger doors.

Battle over gun control in Virginia heating up as legislature prepares to vote on new restrictions. Anti-gun fanatic Governor Northam wants the entire package of gun control bills fast-tracked for passage in the first week of this brief session. Gun bans, gun rationing, confiscation – it’s all on the table when the newly bought and paid for majority of the Virginia General Assembly fast tracks their anti-gun agenda in January. They will gladly cast your right of self-defense aside as they try to check off every gun control scheme on Michael Bloomberg’s wish-list.
Pennsylvania State Police are searching for the person or people who released bed bugs in a Walmart. According to WENY, a store manager found a closed pill bottle containing live bugs in the Washington Township store on Thursday. The pill bottle was found inside a boy’s jacket that was listed for sale. The next day an employee from an area lab identified the bugs as bed bugs. The employee also found bed bugs crawling in the men’s dressing room. On Friday, another closed pill bottle that housed several dead bugs was also found on the floor of the men’s department. The incident remains under investigation. The CDC says that bed bugs do not carry disease and are not considered dangerous. However, an allergic reaction to their bites could require medical attention. #WTF?
An Islamic religious leader was arrested in Houston last week on charges of sex crimes against children under the age of 14, authorities said on Monday. Mohamed Omar Ali, 59, has been charged with one count of sexual assault of a child and three counts of indecency with a child, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Ali, a Somali national who was living in the U.S. illegally, was a well-known imam in the Islamic community and taught through Texas and the U.S., according to the sheriff’s office. Detective Michael Alexander said Ali gained access to the alleged victims by earning the trust of their families who invited him over to teach their children the Quran. The sheriff’s office has accounted for four victims, who were all minors at the time of the assaults, which started in 2013. Authorities believe there were other victims both locally and nationally. Anyone with information on the matter is being asked to called Sgt. Jonathan Howell at 281-341-4797. 👮🏻‍♂️
A Jacksonville cop shot and killed one man and injured another while trying to stop a vehicle that was driving the wrong way down a street Sunday night, investigators said. The incident unfolded around 9:20 p.m. after Officer N.E. Lawson tried to pull over a vehicle that was going south in a northbound lane, the Florida Times-Union reported. A brief police chase ensued before the vehicle crashed into another car, injuring two people, then slammed into a pedestrian bridge, Jacksonville Police Chief T.K. Waters told reporters during a news conference. After the crash, Lawson approached the vehicle. An exchange took place, and the officer “ended up firing his service weapon several times,” Waters said. The two people were taken to the hospital, where one died. The other remained in critical condition. Their names haven’t been released but the chief said both men were in their early 20s.

Guy messed with the bull and got the horns. There is always someone who will try to run. Will you be ready for that? 30 feet into a foot pursuit is where most will sustain their injury. Don’t let that be you. Make sure to train them fast twitch muscles weekly with some sprints. The faster you catch em, the more you will have left in the tank to finish off the arrest hopefully.

A rock formation in Puerto Rico that was a popular tourist destination was reduced to rubble after the first of two powerful earthquakes rocked the island Monday. The arch was just one of the few naturally occurring arches on the island until a 5.8-magnitude quake that struck early Monday morning off the island's southern coast caused it to collapse. Seismologists say that shallow quakes were occurring along three faults in Puerto Rico’s southwest region: Lajas Valley, Montalva Point and the Guayanilla Canyon, as the North American plate and the Caribbean plate squeeze Puerto Rico. Monday's earthquake that brought down Punta Ventana had been the strongest yet until a 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck Puerto Rico before dawn on Tuesday. The 6.4-magnitude quake that left at least one man dead and eight others injured cut power to the island as power plants shut down to protect themselves.
