Nobody will be calling this Louisiana bank robbery suspect a smooth criminal after surveillance cameras caught him taking several tumbles in the bushes during his apparent getaway. "After getting an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled the business eastbound on Williamson Way, tripping several times in the parking lot and dropping cash and an Urban Camo mask," the Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post Monday afternoon. The accompanying video, which shows the man flailing and running toward the street, quickly went viral, racking up nearly 9,000 views by Tuesday morning. #losers
A robbery suspect was shot with his own gun in Texas on Tuesday when the homeowner he was allegedly trying to mug took it from him, police said. The male suspect entered a residential garage in the Westbury neighborhood of Houston just before 3 p.m. and told the homeowner he intended to rob him, according to local authorities. It was not immediately clear how the incident unfolded, but investigators said the homeowner managed to steal the gun and shoot the robbery suspect, KTRK reported. The suspect was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released. #losers

Nathaniel Tennosuke Berhow pulled the .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol from his backpack on Nov. 14, his birthday, and shot students at Saugus High School in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Clarita seemingly at random before turning the gun on himself. He died of his wounds the next day. “When we did a search of the house, we encountered what’s called a kit gun. The weapon used in the homicide was also a kit gun,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva told local KABC-TV in an interview. The sheriff told KABC it was not yet clear if the teenage gunman put the weapon together himself. The boy’s father, who died in 2017, was an avid hunter who once owned six guns. But those weapons had been confiscated from him and destroyed, Villanueva said. Kit guns are sold legally at gun shows and online and are sometimes called “80% percent guns” because they are purchased roughly 80% assembled, he said.

The U.S. Army is undertaking a security assessment of China-owned social media platform TikTok after a Democratic lawmaker raised national security concerns over the app’s handling of user data, Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy said on Thursday, reported Reuters. Speaking to reporters at an event at the American Enterprise Institute think tank, McCarthy said he ordered the assessment after the top Democrat in the U.S. Senate, Chuck Schumer, asked him to investigate the possible risks in the military’s use of the popular video app for recruiting American teenagers. “National security experts have raised concerns about TikTok’s collection and handling of user data, including user content and communications, IP addresses, location-related data, metadata, and other sensitive personal information,” Schumer wrote in a Nov. 7 letter to McCarthy.
