Relatives have carried the handmade pine coffins holding the remains of one mother and her two children into their breakaway Mormon community in Mexico as the first funerals were held for the family slaughtered in a drug cartel ambush. Male family members carried in the remains of Dawna Ray Langford, 43, and her sons Trevor, 11, and Rogan, 3, before they were buried at the community's small cemetery. Members of the extended community had built the coffins themselves and used shovels to dig a mass grave for the three in the rocky soil of La Mora's small cemetery. 🗿

A Bolivian mayor has been doused in red paint and had her hair hacked off by protesters who blamed her for the deaths of two opposition protesters. Patricia Arce, of the governing Mas party, was dragged out of Vinto town hall and subjected to four hours of degradation in which she was made to kneel and sign her resignation. Young men carrying batons and wearing masks chanted, 'Murderess, murderess,' as they marched Arce to a platform where they cut her hair before the baying mob. An atheist group has complained about new decals on a Florida county's patrol cars that feature an American flag and the phrase "In God We Trust." The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) argues the new "patriotic" decal, suggested by a local military veteran, is "frightening and politically dubious" in a letter to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, but Sheriff Wayne Ivey isn't backing down. ”They have a better chance of me waking up thin tomorrow morning than they do of me taking that motto off our cars!"
