Alvin “Lee” Turner, 69, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Born in Burke County, NC on August 19, 1957, he was the beloved son of Maxine Turner and the late James Gilbert Turner.

A dedicated member of Hopewell Baptist Church, Lee was a steadfast servant throughout his life. He devoted 30 years of his career to law enforcement with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office. After retirement, he continued to stay active, taking on various jobs that kept him engaged and fulfilled.

Lee found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was a trip to Dollywood, camping with loved ones, or cheering on his grandchildren during their sporting events, family was always at the heart of his happiness. His infectious sense of humor and love for a good joke brought laughter to those around him, making every moment spent with him a cherished memory.

"It is with extreme sadness we inform the citizens of Spokane County that one of the Deputies who was critically injured has lost his valiant fight and succumbed to his injuries last night.  He is survived by his wife and two children. 

The second Deputy remains on life support in critical condition, surrounded by his family; unfortunately, he is not expected to survive.  As an organ donor, arrangements are being considered and he will continue to serve others with the gift of life.

The families have requested privacy as they suffer this enormous loss.

Everyone at the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office/Spokane Valley Police Department is devastated by yesterday’s tragic and senseless violent shooting."
