NEW: A San Antonio police officer was injured Friday night after being struck by a vehicle during a traffic stop near downtown, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
The incident happened around 9:16 p.m. Friday near North Frio Street and West Martin Street.
Police said the officer was conducting a traffic stop when a 20-year-old man struck the officer with his vehicle before fleeing the scene.
The suspect was stopped and taken into custody a short time later for assault on a peace officer, according to SAPD.

For the past five years, K9 Chester proudly served the Cook County Sheriff’s Office Canine Unit alongside his human partner, K9 Specialist Eriaka Phillips.

K9 Chester’s primary assignment was within the Cook County Department of Corrections (CCDOC), where he played an important role in protecting the safety and security of our facility by ensuring that contraband did not make its way inside. Through his dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to duty, Chester made a lasting contribution to the department and the members he served alongside.

NEW: An Osceola County deputy was hurt early Monday in a crash on Florida's Turnpike, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 5:20 a.m. on the northbound side of the Turnpike near mile marker 239 in St. Cloud.

FHP said the deputy's patrol SUV overturned.

A 65-year-old law enforcement officer has died following a three-vehicle crash Sunday night on U.S. 290 in northwest Harris County.

The victim has been identified as Ronald “Ron” Davis, a longtime officer with the Lone Star College Police Department who previously served with the Houston Police Department.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 9:17 p.m. Sunday, October 25, to a major crash on the Northwest Freeway near West Street in the Jersey Village area.

Davis served with the Lone Star College Police Department for 15 years after retiring from HPD.

The College Police Department paid tribute to Davis, remembering his friendship, guidance, years of service, and the lasting impact he made on colleagues and the community.

UPDATE: The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office made a statement to the press regarding the investigation into a shooting that left two people dead and two others injured early Monday morning in the community of Moss Landing.

On November 2, 2026, just before 2:00 AM, Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies, California State Parks personnel, and California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of gunshots heard along Jetty Road in Moss Landing.
Upon arrival, deputies located two individuals who were pronounced deceased at the scene. A third individual arrived at a local hospital and was confirmed to have been shot. That person’s current condition is unknown. A fourth individual was transported from the scene to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending forensic examinations and notification of next of kin.
