A total of seven people were shot at a Spirit Halloween store in the Bay Area on Friday night, according to authorities. The shooter was not immediately apprehended.

Authorities deploy 70,000 police officers across the country, preparing for potential unrest just two weeks after riots and looting left shops and public buildings damaged.

The latest demonstrations are fueled by anger over rising living costs, struggling public services and government spending plans, with roughly 150 gatherings planned nationwide.

The Menifee Police Department sadly announced the death of Corporal Matthew Harper who passed away last night, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

"Throughout his 27 years of dedicated law enforcement service, Matt made a lasting impact on those he served alongside and the community he was committed to protecting. He was an extraordinary person who fought with everything he had throughout this journey. His strength, courage, and determination were nothing short of remarkable.

We are incredibly fortunate to have known him and to have had the privilege of calling him a friend, a partner, and a member of our Menifee PD family. The impact Matt made on this department and the relationships he built with those around him will never be forgotten. His friendship, presence, and the memories shared with him meant so much to so many. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him."

A disturbance call turned deadly Friday night in Lincoln County, Montana.

Deputy Ryan Terpsma was shot and killed while responding alongside a Eureka police, MT officer to a disturbance call at 8:23 p.m. Friday, October 30, according to Sheriff Darren Short. The Eureka officer was also struck by gunfire and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities say the 50-year-old suspect fled with a 7-year-old girl. During the pursuit, he reportedly fired at Flathead County Sheriff's Office  deputies, disabling two patrol vehicles, before surrendering at a roadblock on Highway 93. Investigators also discovered Merrisa Walker, 46, shot and killed at the original scene. A juvenile girl was injured, treated, and released. A young deputy lost. Another family mourning Merrisa. A wounded officer and children caught in devastating violence.🙏🏻
