Deputies were advised of a barricaded suspect and an officer was down at the scene. EPD Officer was transported to a local hospital. Scene is currently secured. Both men, asphalt cowboys on their routes, stopped this morning after the crash on State Road 83 to help.
When they could have left, they stayed, helping WCSOFL deputies direct traffic while WCSOFL crews set up a Landing Zone for AirMethods AIR Heart 2.
They didn't need to be asked. They weren't looking for thanks. They just... helped.
During a chaotic and urgent scene this morning, it was a breath of fresh air to see two people so eager to step in and do what was needed. Thank you both.
The crash on State Road 83 has been cleared. Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.

NEW: The Crisp County Georgia Sheriff’s Office says that two people were hurt, including a deputy, after a crash caused a Crisp County cruiser to overturn, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.
A deputy was traveling south on Highway 41 on the way to a structure fire with their lights and sirens activated. But, as the deputy was trying to pass a car, another vehicle attempted to turn left into a private driveway.
The sheriff’s office says that the deputy tried to avoid the crash but ended up hitting the vehicle.
The cruiser left the roadway and overturned.
According to the sheriff’s office release, the deputy was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. They say the other driver also had minor injuries as well.
“Please keep everyone involved in your thoughts as they recover. We are thankful that the injuries were not more serious,” the sheriff’s office said in a post.
