'VERY SCARY MOMENT': Corporal Niomi Bruce with HCSO is recovering after a driver crashed into her patrol vehicle on I-75 — while she was investigating a completely separate incident.

Bruce was among the deputies who responded to help secure that crash scene. She was sitting inside her patrol vehicle waiting for a tow truck and speaking with her sergeant through the passenger window.

"I just remember typing on my computer. And I looked over at her, and I remember the look on her face was like she saw a ghost," Bruce said. "And she yelled, 'Oh crap.'"

Yesterday, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Michigan State Police (MSP) in locating an inmate who escaped from the Crawford County Jail.

MSP helicopter “Trooper 3” used its forward-looking infrared (FLIR) camera to locate the suspect hiding beneath logs and debris in the woods near the Grayling Country Club. The aerial team guided troopers and officers on the ground to the suspect’s location, where he was safely taken into custody.

MSP resources involved in the search included the Aviation Unit, Canine Unit, Emergency Support Team, Houghton Lake Post, Gaylord Post, Traverse City Post, Seventh District Fugitive Team, and STING detectives.

Great work by all who worked together to safely take the suspect into custody.

BREAKING: A major discrepancy in the federal investigation into suspected noncitizen voters in LA County.

The county says 38.9% of a sample claimed they were born in the U.S. A DHS official now says immigration records show NONE of the 200 were born here.

BREAKING: The Delaware State Police is investigating a report of a student with a gun at Middletown High School. The SRO secured the loaded weapon, and the student has been arrested and removed from the building. No one was injured, and no additional threat is known at this time. THE CEASEFIRE HAS COMMENCED
The ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia took effect at 4:00am Moscow time on October 27, 2026. 
 
Timing was accelerated two days ahead of schedule to protect the safety of civilians and to facilitate the delivery of critical humanitarian aid.  The ceasefire’s geographic area has expanded beyond Oleshky, within the Kherson Region, to provide safe passage for the humanitarian convoys.

Leo now has a donated ballistic and stab protective vest, thanks to the nonprofit Vested Interest in K9s.

That’s a good day for Leo and for the trooper who works beside him. These dogs run into the same danger their handlers do, and now Leo goes in with a little more between him and the worst day of his career.

Here’s the part most people don’t know. A lot of K9 vests in this country come from charities and donors, not from the agencies themselves.
