The shooting happened shortly before 3 a.m., when officers pulled over a vehicle in the area of North 21st and East Santa Clara streets.
Police released few details on Monday afternoon but said that one officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and another officer fired his gun.
The vehicle fled the scene and shortly after a car that was possibly connected to the incident was located near Lucretia Avenue and Tully Road.
Police haven't announced any arrests and no other information was immediately available.

NEW: Two Boston police officers were injured while taking a person into custody Sunday night, the department said.
The officers, from the department's South End district, were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
They were hurt while taking into custody a subject recognized from larceny incidents earlier Sunday, according to police. The stop took place about 7:31 p.m.
It wasn't immediately clear how or how badly the officers were injured.

The Massachusetts State Police said Monday that a trooper out of the Concord Barracks conducted a traffic stop on Church Street for a license plate violation on a black Infinity sedan. The operator at one point was removed from the vehicle to be questioned about a bag of marijuana in the car, police said, at which point the operator got back into the driver’s seat and struck the trooper with the car while fleeing the scene.
A warrant has been requested for the driver’s arrest, and the State Police have issued a notice to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle.
