U.S. Park Police Mounted Patrol Officer Gordiejew and his partner, Samson, brought a very large community helper to Liberty Elementary School in Petaluma, California.
The pair recently visited the school as part of Community Helper Week, giving students an opportunity to meet a mounted police officer and learn more about the work of the United States Park Police.
For the students, the presentation came with an added attraction: a police horse standing right there in the school community.

David Sacks: As I wrote a year and a half ago, Zelensky is incapable of making peace. Elections in Ukraine are long overdue.
WHY ZELENSKY CANNOT MAKE PEACE
Zelenskyβs meltdown in the Oval Office began over his refusal to accept a negotiated settlement to the war. Even the Vice Presidentβs use of the word βdiplomacyβ provoked a heated response.
So why canβt Zelensky make a peace deal?
1) He will lose power.
Zelensky cancelled elections in Ukraine and remains in power through martial law. Despite what USAID propaganda polls may claim, Zelensky is unpopular in Ukraine and would likely lose a fair election. That could leave him vulnerable to retaliation from political opponents he has imprisoned or seized assets from. In short, Zelensky needs the war to justify his continued rule.
2) The gravy train will end.
Ukraine was widely acknowledged as the most corrupt country in Europe before the war, and there is abundant evidence that Ukrainian elites have been hugely profiting from the billions in Western aid. If the war ends, so does the gravy train. A post-war audit of where the money went would also be disastrous for Zelenskyβs supporters.
3) He fears the ultra-nationalists.
Most Ukrainians say they want the war to end, but the ultra-nationalist faction (a relative minority but well-armed and willing to use violence to achieve their ends) refuses to accept any territorial concessions to Russia. If Zelensky signs such a deal, he has reason to fear for his safety.
4) Heβs psychologically committed.
Zelenskyβs belief in ultimate victory over Russia has βhardened into a form that worries some of his advisors,β according to a report by TIME Magazine, which described Zelenskyβs faith as βimmovable, verging on the messianic.β According to one of Zelenskyβs aides, βHe is delusional. Weβre out of options. Weβre not winning. But try telling him that.β Zelensky may be in too deep to see the situation objectively.
5) History will judge him harshly.
Zelensky could have accepted a draft peace deal signed in the first month of the war, the Istanbul Accords, under which Ukraine would have kept all of its territory in exchange for neutrality. A deal now will likely be modeled on Istanbul but require Ukraine to recognize realities on the ground (ie loss of territory). Acknowledging that hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have died only to get a worse deal may be too bitter a pill for Zelensky to swallow, now or ever.
In summary, Zelensky has powerful motivations to reject a deal, no matter how bad the battlefield realities get. His incentive is to continue a doomed war even if it leads to the complete destruction of Ukraine.
Instead of offering unconditional support, Zelenskyβs supporters in the West should be urging him to seek a diplomatic off-ramp. Certainly they should stop catering to his unrealistic and maximalist demands.
As Solzhenitsyn said, the yes-man is your enemy, but a friend will argue with you.

With heavy hearts, the LACoFD announces the passing of retired Fire Chief John W. Englund on October 8, 2026, at the age of 95.
Following his service in the U.S. Air Force, Chief Englund joined the LACoFD in 1955. Over a dedicated 33-year career, he rose to become our seventh Fire Chief, serving from 1984 to 1988.
As Fire Chief, he overcame major funding challenges to eliminate all Department debt, paving the way to rebuild seven fire stations and construct two new ones. His forward-thinking leadership funded the 9-1-1 Communications Center, introduced the Departmentβs first Bell 412 twin-turbine helicopter, chaired the FIRESCOPE Board, and established our Family Support Group.
Chief Englundβs visionary legacy permanently shaped our Department.
Rest Easy Brother. Prayers for his family of red and blood.ππ»

BOOM! THAT WAS SUPER FAST!
One day after the announcement, Russian diesel is already nearing the American coast.
The MINERVA ZEN is carrying 280,000 barrels of fuel from a shipment loaded in St. Petersburg on September 22.
The timing suggests Washington and Moscow may have reached an understanding weeks before Trump went public.
The plan was already in motion.

California has outlawed child marriage, joining 17 other US states where the taboo practice is also banned.
Under past state law, minors of any age could obtain a court order for marriage with the consent of their parents.
Assembly bill 1267, which Governor Gavin Newsom signed on Wednesday, prohibits minors from being issued a marriage license or establishing a domestic partnership (an arrangement that provides spousal protections). The law has no exceptions.

BREAKING: The Department of Justice is officially investigating whether five of the biggest TV news outlets β CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, and Fox β violated antitrust laws when they briefly suspended White House pool coverage of President Donald J.Trump. This all started after Trump banned CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from White House access, prompting the networks to boycott in protest. Now the DOJ claims that boycott might be an illegal group action under the Sherman Act.

U.S. Forces Disable Cargo Vessel Attempting to Violate Blockade
TAMPA, Fla. β U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces disabled a commercial cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman, Oct. 10, after the shipβs crew ignored repeated warnings and attempted to run the ongoing naval blockade against Iran.
A U.S. military fighter jet struck the stern of Panama-flagged M/V Ocean Molica (also known as the βArika Sunβ) with a precision munition, fully disabling the shipβs propulsion without harming the crew. The large cargo vessel was attempting to transit regional waters after having previously departed an Iranian port.
CENTCOM forces resumed Americaβs blockade against all ships entering or departing Iranian ports on July 14. Four commercial vessels have been disabled and 135 ships have been turned around during three months of strict enforcement. Additionally, U.S. forces have destroyed 10 tankers linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' multibillion-dollar shadow network over the same period.
