NEW: A Miami police officer was taken to a hospital after being involved in a traffic crash Sunday night while on the way to work, according to police.
The crash happened around 8:35 p.m. near Northwest 17th Avenue and Northwest 135th Street in Opa-locka. The officer was driving a marked police vehicle at the time.
According to police, both the officer and the other driver were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.
The Opa-locka Police Department is investigating the crash. No additional details about the circumstances leading up to the crash or the officer’s condition were immediately available. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for the officer's recovery🙏🏻

On October 5, 2016, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sergeant Steve Owen was killed in the line of duty while responding to a burglary in progress in Lancaster.
Sergeant Owen, 53, was answering a report of a break-in when he confronted the suspect, Trenton Lovell. During the confrontation, Lovell shot the veteran sergeant in the head before standing over him and firing additional fatal shots. Despite the efforts of fellow deputies and medical personnel, Sergeant Owen succumbed to his wounds later that evening.
Sergeant Owen dedicated his life to serving his community and protecting others. In addition to his assignment at Lancaster Station, he served with the Sheriff’s Mounted Enforcement Detail.
Today, we remember Sergeant Owen for his courage, dedication, and commitment to protecting his community. We also remember his family, friends, and fellow deputies who continue to honor his memory.
Rest in peace, Sergeant Steve Owen. Your service, sacrifice, and legacy will never be forgotten. 🖤💙

BREAKING: The Polk County Sheriff's Office announced that two people have died following a multi vehicle crash involving a bus in Winter Haven earlier this morning.
Authorities said 5 to 7 people have been trauma alerted, with more than 40 people also injured. One of the fatalities was a 10th-grade female student. The other fatality was the driver of a Jeep who was hit by the vehicle that crossed the center line.

The Pennsylvania Senate has approved a bill to rename I-81 Exit 119 in Schuylkill County in honor of fallen Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael E. Pahira Jr. 🇺🇸💙

If approved by the Pennsylvania House, the interchange would officially become the PSP Trooper Michael E. Pahira Jr. Memorial Interchange — creating a permanent memorial along the very highway where he served.
It’s more than a new name on an exit sign. It would serve as a lasting reminder of a Pennsylvania State Police trooper who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving others.

Our message: law enforcement and the new FBI have been reinvigorated under the Trump administration letting good cops do their jobs.
The results are undeniable: 1.1 million fewer violent crimes than last year; 10 of the top Ten Most Wanted fugitives captured, 2.5 times more than the previous four years combined; historic new programs like the FBI counter UAS school out of Redstone; and an entire summer of America 250 celebrations, the FIFA World Cup, F1, and more - all without a single major security incident. In New Jersey alone crime is down 12% from 2024 with 630+ violent crime arrests - up 75%.
We couldn’t do it without the FBI NAA which is why we made the important step increasing class sizes from 250 to 300 this year - building on our historic partnership and giving more law enforcement than ever the tools they need in the field to win.
