On September 30, 1968, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Aero Bureau pilot Deputy Robert Schnur, 43, and observer Deputy Gary McCullah, 29, took off from the Biscailuz Center in East Los Angeles for an Argus air patrol over the East San Gabriel Valley. They were scheduled to return that afternoon but failed to do so.

The following morning, after Schnur’s wife reported that he had not returned home, the Sheriff’s Aero Bureau began a search. At approximately 7:30 a.m., another Sheriff’s helicopter located the wreckage in Dark Canyon in the Whittier Hills, about one-half mile south of the Rose Hills Memorial Park trash dump.

The investigation determined that the helicopter had struck abandoned wires stretched across the canyon while flying at low altitude. Both deputies were killed instantly. Evidence indicated that, after completing their patrol, the deputies had been hunting coyotes from the air in response to complaints from local residents.

A FlyDubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv was diverted to Saudi Arabia Wednesday morning after an apparent incident took place inside the cockpit, according to Israeli security source.

🚨DEVELOPING: Manassas City Virginia Police have released a photo of the suspect wanted in connection with a triple shooting at United Rentals on Wellington Road.

Police identify the suspect as Marvin Grant and say he may be driving a gray Toyota Camry or Toyota Corolla with temporary North Carolina tags. Three co-workers were shot and are in critical condition. Police say Grant may be a threat to the public. If you see Grant or the vehicle, do not approach him — call 911 immediately.

Latest: According to reports, the details of the mid-air drama have emerged: the co-pilot—acting as an attacker—began stabbing the captain in an attempt to seize control of the plane and crash it, with its passengers on board, into Israeli territory.

The captain resisted and activated distress signals. Flight attendants attempted to enter the cockpit, while Israeli passengers who realized what was happening forcibly broke in, subdued the co-pilot, and removed him from the cockpit. The captain, having sustained multiple stab wounds, was incapacitated.

Miraculously, two Israeli pilots were on board flying back to Israel; they were the ones who landed the aircraft, which otherwise would have crashed. "A great miracle happened to us today," said one of the passengers.
