NEW: Two people, including police officer, injured in KCK confrontation.

Melissa Underwood, a spokesperson for the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, said in an email that KBI officials were called to investigate an “officer-involved critical incident” near the intersection of North 29th Street and State Avenue Tuesday evening. She said a man and a Kansas City, Kansas, officer were both injured in a confrontation and brought to hospitals for treatment.

Underwood said once KBI agents had time to investigate further, the department would release additional information. She indicated the department was not investigating a shooting and that neither person involved was injured by gunfire.

Injured Fort Worth officer asks: What’s being done to fix workers’ comp?

Fort Worth police officer Bobbie Sanchez, injured on duty in July 2024, has spent over two years fighting for medical treatment and reimbursement, citing delays and denials by workers' compensation administrator Sedgwick. Her case highlights broader frustrations among first responders, with records showing police and firefighters face higher claim denial rates than other city employees.
The city's contract with Sedgwick is nearing expiration, but no new request for proposals has been issued as of late September 2026. While city officials defend Sedgwick's performance, Sanchez argues the issues are systemic. Meanwhile, the Texas Municipal Police Association is pushing legislation to allow critically injured responders to use personal insurance for immediate care and to require specific reasons for claim denials.

NEW: A Henry County Sheriff’s Office K-9 officer is recovering after being stabbed multiple times while helping law-enforcement officers apprehend an armed suspect following a hit-and-run investigation in southern Virginia.

K9 Zajo, the canine partner of Deputy Logan Grubbs, suffered a puncture wound near his head and eye along with several facial lacerations during the confrontation on Monday, September 28.

"Zajo was taken to a veterinarian for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.

This happened yesterday around 5pm & it happened on the corner of Santa Monica Blvd & Westwood Blvd. This homeless man in a wheelchair with no legs fell out of his wheelchair & he hit the sidewalk. He passed out & the police came. The police officers tried to wake him up but couldn't. One of the police officers ran to his police vehicle & came back with narcan & the police officer put it up the homeless man's nose a couple of times. The homeless man was overdosing on some type of drug. So, The police officer was rubbing the homeless man's chest a couple of times to wake him up. ‼️ANOTHER ILLEGAL ALIEN STANDS ACCUSED OF M*RDER‼️ Wichita police used Flock plate readers to track down a 21-year-old illegal alien they say sh*t three relatives in a south-side house.

Call came at 11:29 a.m. Saturday in the 5000 block of East Blake, just off Oliver.

WPD Capt. Aaron Moses identified the victims as a 49-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman, and a 25-year-old woman who were pronounced dece@sed at the scene.

Six people plus the suspect were inside at the time of the incident. Authorities believe the sh*oting stemmed from a domestic incident. Juan Valenzuela-Silva fled the scene in a 2014 black Infiniti QX60.

Flock hits showed him leaving the city, leading to a Butler County deputy stopping him south of Augusta on U.S. 77 within two hours. He was taken into custody without incident.

Chief Joe Sullivan credited the cameras and the law enforcement partners for the arrest.

Police said he had no prior criminal history beyond a wreck.

Throughout his distinguished career, Captain Robinson earned the respect of his fellow deputies, colleagues, and community members. He was not only known for his professionalism and dedication to law enforcement, but also for the compassion, guidance, and friendship he extended to those around him.
