β½ California gas prices are now so high that some stations are displaying numbers almost identical to the supposedly apocalyptic prices seen in 2007βs I Am Legend.
The movie, which takes place in 2012, features a Mobil sign showing $6.63 for regular, $6.87 for special and $6.95 for premium gasoline.
Fast-forward to September 22, 2026, and AAA lists Californiaβs statewide averages at roughly $6.17 regular, $6.39 midgrade and $6.59 premium.
The California 76 station pictured here goes even further, advertising $6.37 regular, $6.67 plus and $6.87 premium, putting it directly inside the movieβs fictional price range.
Diesel is even more extreme, with Californiaβs statewide average sitting around $8.42 per gallon, essentially at its highest recorded level.
Regular gas still hasnβt beaten Californiaβs statewide record of about $6.44 set in June 2022, but the resemblance between todayβs station boards and the movie is still wild.

HERO ALERT: THIS is what sacrifice looks like! Sixteen years after an Afghanistan IED took both of Brian Mast's legs, the Florida congressman marked his Alive Day.
Mast stepped on the device on Sept. 19, 2010, while clearing a night path in the Kandahar Valley for Army Rangers.
He was a staff sergeant and explosive ordnance disposal technician with the 28th Ordnance Company under Joint Special Operations Command.
β
The blast took both legs below the knee and his left index finger.
He has written that he still remembers the dirt in his mouth and the radio call "EOD is hit, EOD is down."
β
Teammates put on tourniquets, and the last thing he recalls is a salute from the helicopter window.
He recovered at Walter Reed, earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star, and was medically retired in 2012 after about 12 years in uniform.
Mast now represents Florida's 21st District and posts each Sept. 19 as the day he lived, not only the day he was wounded.

BREAKING: DHS releases a bullet-point list of what they say are false claims about the shooting of a Venezuelan illegal alien in Austin, TX. They say claims that he was legal and had a valid work permit are false.
Per DHS:
βCLAIM: ICE refused to remove the bullet from the illegal alienβs body.
FACT: This is false. ICE does not and would not advise, nor be the authority on, a medical procedure for an illegal alien at a hospital.
CLAIM: The illegal alien had a valid work permit.
FACT: This is false. The illegal alienβs work permit expired in 2025. Furthermore, a work permit does NOT grant legal status.
CLAIM: The illegal alien was ordered removed in absentia.
FACT: Yes. This is why aliens must show up to their removal proceedings. Legal obligations do not end because someoneβs address changed.
CLAIM: This illegal alien is here legally.
FACT: This is false. This person is in the U.S. illegally. He entered illegally under the Biden Administration. The illegal alien had no valid work permit, had no protective status, and had a final order of removal from a Department of Justice (DOJ) Immigration Judge.
CLAIM: This illegal alien has received no pain medication.
FACT: This is false. This illegal alien is receiving medical care around the clock, including pain medication.
CLAIM: The illegal alien has been forced to sleep on the floor.
FACT: This is false. This alien was released from the hospital and arrived at the detention facility just a few hours later, where he slept on a bed. Aliens in ICE custody receive a higher standard of living than most prisons that hold U.S. citizens.
CLAIM: This illegal alien was indiscriminately targeted by ICE.
FACT: This is false. This illegal alien was the subject of a targeted vehicle stop. What makes someone a target for immigration enforcement is whether or not they are illegally in the U.S.
DHS Sec. Mullin statement:
βSanctuary politicians and the mainstream media have wasted no time in spreading lies about an ICE officer-involved shooting of an illegal alien in Austin, Texas,β said Secretary Markwayne Mullin. βContrary to their claims, this person is an illegal alien who has no legal status to be here and has been given some of the best medical care heβs ever received in his life. No amount of smears and false narratives will slow down ICE from doing its job by removing dangerous illegal aliens from our communities and making America safe again. Sanctuary politicians may continue to shamelessly protect illegal aliens, but the Trump Administration will remain focused on protecting the American people.β

At approximately 2 a.m., Fernandina Beach Police Department, Florida officers conducting a routine foot patrol at Amelia Waterfront Park found a 4-year-old boy wandering alone near the riverfront. They immediately protected the child and began searching for his family. Officers soon located his father and learned that the little boy had awakened and quietly wandered out of their hotel room. Thankfully, he was healthy, unharmed and safely reunited with his family. No neglect or suspicious circumstances were found. This is an important reminder for families traveling with young children: secure hotel doors, use door latches or portable alarms, and double-check everything before going to sleep. Great work by these officers and thank God this story had a happy ending! π«Ά
