NEW: A 22-year-old volunteer firefighter and licensed EMT is challenging the City of Fremont after his application was rejected because he was homeschooled.

Andrew Coates has served as a volunteer with Cedar Bluffs Fire and holds a state EMT license.

The Fremont Fire Department rejected his application, citing that his homeschool education is considered unaccredited in Nebraska.

While the original job listing asked for "graduation from high school," the city later updated requirements to specify an "accredited" diploma.

Backed by supporters, Coates took his appeal to the Fremont Civil Service Commission, which voiced concern over ambiguity but took no action on city policy.

His family now has 30 days to decide whether to take the case to court.

Warning graphic!

Los Angeles: On August 18, 2026, at approximately 7:30., pm, uniformed officers assigned to Southeast Patrol Division responded to a radio call regarding a kidnapping in progress in the area of Central Avenue and Century Blvd. The comments of the call indicated the suspect, later identified as Bryant Session, was armed with a firearm described as a possible AR-type gun.

Upon arrival, officers observed Session standing in front of a restaurant holding what appeared to be an assault rifle. Officers issued repeated commands for Session to drop the weapon; however, he failed to comply and moved behind a parked vehicle. Session then pointed the rifle in the direction of the officers.

Session was not struck by gunfire and fled southbound from the officers toward a rear alley, where he concealed the rifle in a parking lot of a nearby apartment complex. Responding officers subsequently located and detained Session without further use of force.

WATCH IN FULL: VP JD Vance announces a major fraud crackdown, stopping enrollment for roughly 750,000 people the administration believes are fraudulently enrolled in Obamacare.

Vance says the move will save taxpayers $2.2 billion.

"We expect that most of these people are fraudulently enrolled," Vance says as he announces additional verification for another 419,000 people.

Those checks will focus on whether enrollees meet legal residency and income requirements. Vance says money recovered through the crackdown will instead go toward the health services it was originally intended to fund.

An internal review of July's Bite of Seattle mass shooting found police stopped the threat quickly, but delays in public updates, budget constraints, and distractions from elected officials overshadowed the overall response.

Why is the Greenland deal he just signed so big?

Besides the obvious national security advantages for the Western Hemisphere… We don’t have to ask for permission anymore.

The old agreement allowed foreign adversaries and companies to creep in.. on our doorstep.!Now they have to ask the U.S. for permission. This new agreement includes exclusive access to critical minerals. Not to mention the control presence this will create as the Arctic straight eventually opens up… Trump beat these foreign nations to it. He won… and won for us all.

We are so blessed to have President Trump right now. I hope people realize that.

Democrat version of a civil war?!?! KNIFE pulled during a 2 a.m. PokΓ©mon card line f*ght at a Gilroy, California Target.

The clash was filmed outside the store at 6705 Camino Arroyo, next to a Ross, while campers sat in folding chairs and tents.

Submitter footage posted by PokΓ©Streetz on September 18 shows shoving under the storefront lights, then a group spilling into the parking lot.
β €
One person in a red hoodie ends up on the pavement as others pull bodies apart. The argument started over line cutting and empty "ghost chairs" left to hold spots overnight.

Target in Gilroy is listed open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., so this was an after-hours campout for cards.

The 30th Celebration TCG set had just hit U.S. shelves on September 16, and many Target stores added extra security plus rules against saving a place with an empty chair.

The person who recorded the incident said there was "plenty of product for everyone."

Welcome to California, 2026.

β›½ California gas prices are now so high that some stations are displaying numbers almost identical to the supposedly apocalyptic prices seen in 2007’s I Am Legend.

The movie, which takes place in 2012, features a Mobil sign showing $6.63 for regular, $6.87 for special and $6.95 for premium gasoline.

Fast-forward to September 22, 2026, and AAA lists California’s statewide averages at roughly $6.17 regular, $6.39 midgrade and $6.59 premium.

The California 76 station pictured here goes even further, advertising $6.37 regular, $6.67 plus and $6.87 premium, putting it directly inside the movie’s fictional price range.

Diesel is even more extreme, with California’s statewide average sitting around $8.42 per gallon, essentially at its highest recorded level.

Regular gas still hasn’t beaten California’s statewide record of about $6.44 set in June 2022, but the resemblance between today’s station boards and the movie is still wild.

HERO ALERT: THIS is what sacrifice looks like! Sixteen years after an Afghanistan IED took both of Brian Mast's legs, the Florida congressman marked his Alive Day.

Mast stepped on the device on Sept. 19, 2010, while clearing a night path in the Kandahar Valley for Army Rangers.

He was a staff sergeant and explosive ordnance disposal technician with the 28th Ordnance Company under Joint Special Operations Command.
β €
The blast took both legs below the knee and his left index finger.

He has written that he still remembers the dirt in his mouth and the radio call "EOD is hit, EOD is down."
β €
Teammates put on tourniquets, and the last thing he recalls is a salute from the helicopter window.

He recovered at Walter Reed, earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star, and was medically retired in 2012 after about 12 years in uniform.

Mast now represents Florida's 21st District and posts each Sept. 19 as the day he lived, not only the day he was wounded.
