NEW: A Maryland State Police intern, trooper and police officer rescued a bald eagle on the Eastern Shore.

State police said Centreville Barrack intern Jackson Roach, Trooper A. Setter and an unknown off-duty officer safely removed an injured bald eagle from westbound U.S. Route 50\301 on Wednesday.

They brought the bird back to the barrack, where the Owl Moon Raptor Center picked it up to be taken to its wildlife rehabilitation center in Boyds, Montgomery County.

BREAKING OVERNIGHT: Burglars break into Los Angeles apartment while resident is inside; Van Nuys home also hit.

LAPD says the resident was inside the apartment when two men suddenly broke in. They saw the burglar and ran out. According to police, the burglars did not make physical contact with the resident. Meanwhile, LAPD says two men dressed in black broke into a house in the 7300 block of Ranchito Avenue in Van Nuys almost 2 hours earlier.

NEW: An officer is recovering from minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle late Friday night, according to authorities.

The incident began in the 4000 block of Trousdale Drive at about 10:27 p.m., when the Metro Nashville Police Department responded to reports of a stolen Chevy Suburban driving into Davidson County, Tennessee.

According to MNPD, the SUV was wanted in connection with over 20 vehicle thefts.

Officials said that when MNPD attempted to help Brentwood Police Department detain the SUV’s occupants, the driver drove off and struck an officer. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for his recovery. 🙏🏻

NEW: Homeowners rebuilding after the Palisades Fire say they’re getting hit again, this time by thieves targeting construction sites.

Residents say tools, building materials and copper are disappearing from properties, forcing some homeowners to hire private security. One security company says its customer base in the area has nearly tripled since the fire.

LAPD says it responded to a spike in thefts earlier this summer with undercover officers and increased traffic stops, helping drive crime back down.

But frustrated neighbors say they still have serious questions about the city's response, and Mayor Karen Bass' office did not directly address their concerns.
