This is amazing: A SINGLE SHELL CASING CAN CONNECT CRIMES THAT HAPPENED MONTHS APART.

In Nashville, investigators recovered a loaded stolen gun during what began as a traffic stop.

Within 48 hours, that firearm was entered into NIBIN β€” and investigators say it was linked not only to the shooting they were already investigating, but to a separate homicide that previously had no identified suspect.

That is only one example of how the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network is helping law enforcement connect shootings, identify potential offenders and uncover relationships between crimes that investigators may never have known existed.

β€œEvery shell casing is a witness.”

Watch the exclusive video to see how ATF and local investigators are using ballistic evidence to connect the dots and get violent offenders off the street.

Today, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department joined fellow public safety agencies at the Los Angeles City Fire Department’s 25th 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, honoring and remembering those whose lives were lost on September 11, 2001.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice and the extraordinary courage and selflessness displayed that day.

The gathering of agencies from across the region reflects the importance of communication, coordination, and strong partnerships among public safety agencies. These relationships strengthen our ability to work together and support one another when our communities need us most.

We will never forget those we lost, those who answered the call, and the families whose lives were forever changed.
