As we reflect on the 25th anniversary of September 11, our officers shared how that day forever changed their lives or the lives of their loved ones. For some, the events of 9/11 inspired their decision to serve, whether in law enforcement or the military. Their stories remind us of the profound impact that day had on a generation of public servants and the legacy they continue to carry forward. We honor the service, courage and sacrifice of the heroes that responded that day.

BREAKING: Newly declassified CIA documents show that U.S. intelligence agencies knew as early as 1998 that Bin Laden planned to hijack American aircraft.

“Bin Ladin might implement plans to hijack a US aircraft,” a December 4, 1998 CIA memorandum stated. “[T]wo members of the operational team had evaded security checks during a recent trial run at an unidentified New York airport.”

“Some members of the Bin Ladin network have received hijack training,” the memo continued, “but no group directly tied to Bin Ladin’s al-Qa’ida has ever carried out an aircraft hijacking.”

Four months after the CIA authored that memo, the 9/11 hijackers began to obtain the passports and visas they would later need to enter the U.S. Four of them attended flight schools in the U.S. At least one of them lived in an apartment with an FBI source.

ELECTION FRAUD IS OUT OF CONTROL! Green Bay mailed duplicate absentee ballots in TWO elections, and officials still cannot give a firm count for the second mailing. Apparently keeping track of the ballots was too much to ask.

The Wisconsin Elections Commission unanimously ruled September 9 that former clerk Celestine Jeffreys broke election law and abused her discretion.

At least 152 voters received duplicates before the April election. Before the August primary, at least 244 received them, although printing records suggested the number could have reached 390.

Jeffreys reprinted mailing labels without first establishing whether they were actually missing. The same basic "mistake" happened again after the first incident had already caused trouble.

City officials say affected voters could not have more than one ballot counted. Voters also deserve an office that knows how many ballots it mailed.

Jeffreys has resigned, and another person must now approve label reprints.

NEW: ICE Los Angeles arrested Jorge Solano, 29, of Mexico, Sep. 9. Solano has previous arrests for burglary, sexual battery, indecent exposure, and DUI. He is in ICE custody pending immigration proceedings.

NEW: Emergency crews responded to a South Los Angeles intersection where a police cruiser was involved in a multi-vehicle crash Friday morning.

An assistance call was received around 11:11 a.m. following a crash near East Vernon Avenue and Avalon Boulevard in the Historic South-Central neighborhood,

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department said that four patients, including an officer, were found at the scene. No details regarding the extent of any injuries were immediately available.

Steel remnants of the World Trade Center were on display during a remembrance ceremony Friday in Rancho Cucamonga, California, marking 25 years since the deadly 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The steel beams are part of a larger memorial park in Southern California that also includes fragments from Flight 93 and artifacts from the Pentagon.

WE DON'T HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THIS! An illegal immigrant is accused of breaking into a 77-YEAR-OLD woman’s bedroom, s*xually assaulting her and dragging her back inside when she tried to escape. Absolutely sickening.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says Axel Antonio Espinal Herrera, 24, is a Honduran national in the United States illegally.

Investigators say he entered the woman’s Mulberry home around 4 a.m. on August 29, assaulted her and slapped her when she fought back. When she reached the front door, he pulled her inside and choked her.

She survived and called for help after he fled.

Detectives found Herrera at a nearby home, where he had been taking a shower. They located clothing matching her description and documented scratches consistent with her account. She identified him in a photo lineup.

Herrera faces charges including kidnapping, s*xual battery and burglary with battery. ICE lodged a detainer.

This woman was fighting for her safety in her own bedroom at 77.

They ran in when everyone else was trying to get out.

Men and women firefighters, EMTs, police officers, and first responders walked into the burning towers knowing the danger was real, yet they went anyway.

Some went in to save strangers.
Some never came back out.
All of them showed us what courage, sacrifice, and selflessness truly look like.

Today, we remember the heroes who ran toward the danger.
