The family of a Florida man, who died in his burning Tesla Model S after he crashed, are suing the car company over its futuristic door handles that 'prevented first responders from pulling the victim' from the car. Dr Omar Awan, 48, who was an anesthesiologist, was killed in February when his Tesla crashed near Fort Lauderdale. A police officer arrived almost immediately after the crash but wasn't able to rescue Awan before the car was engulfed in flames. According to a wrongful death lawsuit that was filed by Awan's family last week, the vehicle's door handles were retracted and didn't 'auto-present' when the officer arrived to the scene. The family alleges that because Tesla's handles didn't work, the officer was unable to save Awan. 'Fire engulfed the car and burned Dr Awan beyond recognition - all because the Model S has inaccessible door handles, no other way to open the doors, and an unreasonably dangerous fire risk,' the lawsuit reads.

A pick-pocketing gang which has preyed upon tourists in Paris's Metro has been locked up for 113 years. The 20-strong Romanian gang exploited children between 11 and 18 years old and had them sneak on to Paris's Metro - with one distracting the holiday-maker or commuter, and the other stealing from them. Gang leaders have been put behind bars for trafficking in human beings, concealment, money laundering and conspiracy - as well as a ban on visiting France. The Paris prosecutor said: 'Fifty active miners were identified at the time of the arrests. But they do not consider themselves victims and those who were then placed had all left France the following week.' ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ
Police have shared a picture of a drunk Santa passed out in his jail cell after he allegedly stole the suit from a church before being found by officers in a stranger's car. The man, who has not been identified, can be seen slumped down wearing the festive costume without any shoes after his arrest in Brea, California on Tuesday. Posting the image to their Facebook and Twitter pages, the force dubbed the man 'Drunk Santa Suit Criminal'. They wrote: 'Dear Santa, I'm sorry I stole your red suit. I was drunk and made some poor choices. I know it's only October. And it's hot. Too hot for this suit. 'But I was drunk. Poor choices. Sincerely, Drunk Santa Suit Criminal.' The suspect, arrested for burglary, is said to have broken into a storage shed at a local church on Tuesday morning before being found in a car by its owner at around 7am.๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Hundreds of thousands of Northern California residents are bracing for another possible power outage as the state's utility companies warned that a return of bad weather which could spark wildfires could prompt shut-offs. Southern California Edison is warningโ€ฆ
Hundreds of California residents have been forced to evacuate after a wind-driven wildfire spread overnight as 500,000 people are left without power in the Golden State's second planned blackout in two weeks. Electrical equipment was blamed for setting several fires in recent years that killed scores of people and burned thousands of homes. The latest outage comes two weeks after PG&E shut down the power for several days to about 2 million people in northern and central California. The current outages will last about 48 hours, the utility company said. But its seven-day forecast shows a likelihood of another planned blackout across a much larger area. In the south, where hot, dry Santa Ana winds were expected to hit Thursday, Southern California Edison warned that it might black out about 308,000 customers - perhaps 750,000 people - depending on the forecast. San Diego Gas & Electric warned of power shutoffs to about 24,000 customers.๐ŸŒ˜
