π¨He was already out on bail when he SHOT TWO DEPUTIES, RAN ONE OVER... THEN STOLE THE AMBULANCE COMING TO SAVE THEM.
That is what federal prosecutors say Shawn Tobin Locklear Jr. did after Robeson County deputies tracked him down while he was already out on bond awaiting trial for MURDER.
Locklear allegedly opened fire from the woods, hitting both deputies multiple times in the legs and torso. He then stole their patrol car, BACKED OVER one of the wounded officers and fled.
When an ambulance raced toward the scene to help the deputies who were bleeding on the ground, prosecutors say Locklear intercepted it and commandeered it for HIMSELF.
Other deputies had to load their wounded brothers into the bed of a pickup truck and rush them to the hospital.
Thank God both survived.
Locklear eventually pleaded guilty to federal charges involving the attack, firearms and drug trafficking and was sentenced to 45 YEARS in prison. He was still facing state attempted-murder charges after that sentencing.
How many times will someone out on bail harm someone else? These officers deserve better.

Newly leaked body camera footage from Arizona's Lewis Prison captures a corrections officer being blindsided, beaten for more than three minutes, and forced to call in his own assault.
Carlos Garcia, head of the Arizona Correctional Peace Officers Association, said the video is evidence of a crisis that has been building for years.
"This is Jurassic Park. This is still Jurassic Park," Garcia said.
"This dinosaur broke through the gate. Here we have everything that we dreaded, neatly in one video," he said.

So WHY are you still wide awake?
For law enforcement officers and other first responders, the shift may end long before your body gets the message, especially after long hours, stressful calls and summer heat.

NEW: Two men were arrested after recreational target shooting sent bullets toward an occupied building and nearly struck an Oakdale police officer, authorities said.
Officers responded about 5 p.m. Aug. 27 to the 700 block of Wakefield Court after receiving multiple reports of gunfire, according to the Police Department.
One caller told police that several rounds struck the building where he or she was working. Another caller reported hearing more than 30 rounds fired.
The danger became apparent as officers arrived, police said, when a bullet struck the pavement about two feet from an officer.
Officers deployed a drone to search for the source of the gunfire and traced it to the area of Post Road, according to police. The drone helped officers identify and locate two men, who were taken into custody without incident.

A New Jersey councilman admitted his role in an illegal gambling operation tied to the Lucchese crime family, with more than $900,000 in criminal proceeds directly attributed to him.
Anand Shah pleaded guilty to racketeering, money laundering and official misconduct.
Authorities say he even had people who owed him gambling debts contribute to his political campaign in exchange for having those debts forgiven.
Under the plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend 10 years in state prison, and Shah is permanently barred from holding public office in New Jersey.
