Prepared, ready to assist and committed to public safety.
Yesterday morning, the San Mateo County Sheriffβs Office received a request for assistance from the East Palo Alto Police Department after a dangerous suspect fled from them on foot. The suspect then entered the San Francisco Bay, not far from Cooley Landing in East Palo Alto.
Sheriffβs deputies and three Sheriffβs Office K-9 teams quickly answered the call. With deputies positioned along the shore and a CHP helicopter providing aerial support, East Palo Alto police officers safely took the suspect into custody aboard Menlo Park Fire Protection Districtβs boat.
This was a coordinated effort involving multiple agencies β all committed to working together to protect our community.

HERO ALERT: Two Louisiana garbage workers remembered ONE vehicle description, spotted something that didnβt look right, and helped bring a kidnapped 10-year-old girl home alive.
Dion Merrick and Brandon Antoine were working their normal sanitation route when Merrick noticed a Nissan sitting alone in a field.
He remembered seeing an AMBER Alert for missing 10-year-old Jalisa Lasalle.
Instead of driving past and assuming someone else would handle it, the two called 911 and used their massive garbage truck to BLOCK THE EXIT so the Nissan couldnβt leave before deputies arrived.
Jalisa was found alive inside, and police arrested Michael Sereal in connection with her kidnapping.
After helping rescue this little girl, he asked whether she had eaten and offered to buy her food.
They went to work that morning as garbage collectors.
They came home HEROES.
This story is making the rounds again, and we need to keep the good news circulating. Dion Merrick and Brandon Antoine deserve to be famous all over again.

A political meet-and-greet at a lesbian bar in West Hollywood has been canceled β apparently because of the candidateβs politics.
West Hollywood city council candidate Tanya Tsikanovsky says she planned the event, but it was canceled following backlash over her political views.
WeHo as itβs called, is an enclave of Los Angeles, and is the site of the cityβs annual PRIDE events, drawing hundreds of thousands of LGBTQ supporters.
Tsikanovsky is openly lesbian, Jewish, a Republican and a vocal Zionist. Her campaign is focusing on what she says is growing political intolerance within communities that traditionally championed inclusion.
Tsikanovsky says she is being cancelled specifically for being a Republican and Zionist.
She does not blame the WeHo venue, SweetWater.
βIβm mad at my lesbian community for being the exact opposite of the tolerance they preach," says Tsikanovsky.
In West Hollywood β a city famous for celebrating diversity β apparently has diversity limits.βJeff Vaughn

A cornfield has been transformed into a giant maze honoring Dolly Parton.
Located in Woodstock, Illinois, the maze spans about eight acres and features two different paths: easy and hard.
It includes several fun attractions, such as a large cardboard cutout of Dolly for photo ops and trivia questions to help guide you through the country music icon's legacy.
