NEW: A trooper was hurt, and another person suffered life-threatening injuries after a collision involving a police cruiser earlier this week.

The police arrived at 899 Belmont St. at about 10:50 p.m. on Monday, August 10, after a police cruiser and another vehicle collided. Emergency units also went to the location to assist those involved.

The trooper had a broken arm, while a person in the other vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries. A second person in that vehicle was less seriously hurt. The investigation into the cause of the collision remains underway, with additional details expected as the review continues.

BREAKING: Indianapolis metro police urged residents on the city’s west side to shelter in place as it investigates an “active scene” Friday afternoon, (local time./

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded around 2:30 p.m. to the 300 block of N. Fleming Street near W. Vermont Street in response to a reported shooting. The location is across the street from the Thatcher Golf Course and just south of Speedway.

In a post on Facebook, IMPD urged residents in the area to shelter in place and avoid the area as it remains an “active scene.” In an update around 3:01 p.m., police again urged residents to avoid the area as “active shots” are being fired.
