They called him the Million-Dollar Dog for a reason.

K9 Bosco of the LaPorte County Sheriffโ€™s Office in Indiana spent eight years ripping into drug traffickers on the highways. With Deputy Jon Samuelson at his side he seized over $3.3 million in dirty money, more than 55 kilos of crack, 174 kilos of meth, fentanyl, heroin, thousands of THC cartridges, gold bars, and vehicles. That dog shut down pipelines and kept poison off the streets.

Everything changed on May 22, 2026. Samuelson stopped to help a disabled vehicle, ended up taking the driver to the ER at Franciscan Health in Michigan City, and got shot three times for it, including a point-blank round to the neck. The deputy was left fighting for his life. Boscoโ€™s partner was down hard.

Other handlers stepped up and took care of the dog while Samuelson recovered. Plans for Boscoโ€™s retirement had already been forming because the years were starting to show. Last week they made it official. Retirement took effect July 28

Two police cruisers were damaged, but no officers were injured. Adams faces multiple charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, resisting law enforcement and reckless driving.
