Today, we honor and celebrate the retirement of Sheriff Mike Linder after a distinguished career dedicated to serving Yellowstone County for over (40) years.
Sheriff Mike Linder started his law enforcement journey in 1985, as a Reserve Deputy with the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office. During that time, he worked patrol, helped out in the old jail on the 8th floor of the Courthouse, did river rescues, scuba diving missions, and was on various horse mounted details. He also became a certified EMT.
In 1989, Sheriff Mike Linder was offered a full time position where he started out in the Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit. There, he investigated drug crimes and worked undercover in Yellowstone County.
After (2) years, Sheriff Mike Linder transferred to the patrol division where he was a resident Deputy in the Huntley and Worden area.
In 1994, he was promoted to Sergeant.
In 1998, he was promoted to Lieutenant, and oversaw the patrol division afternoon shift. During Sheriff Mike Linder's years in the patrol division, he became involved in different special assignments such as firearms instructor, search and rescue, and SWAT, which included time on the entry team, sniper team, and eventually as the overall team leader.
In 2007, Sheriff Mike Linder was assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service Violent Offender Task Force as a Special Deputy U.S. Marshal, and spent (4) years tracking down and arresting violent fugitives.
In November 2010 Sheriff Mike Linder was elected Sheriff of Yellowstone County, and took over on January 1st, 2011. He was re-elected several more times, and is currently in his 4th term as Sheriff.
Throughout Sheriff Mike Linder's career, he has demonstrated steadfast leadership, unwavering integrity, and a commitment to the safety of our community and the men and women of the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office.
While this chapter comes to a close, the impact of Sheriff Mike Linder’s leadership and service will be felt for years to come. On behalf of the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office, we extend our sincere gratitude for his dedication and wish him a well-earned retirement filled with good health, happiness, and new adventures.

BREAKING: F-35 jet crashed after "mishap" at Miramar Air Base in California; condition of crew unknown.

Marine Corps Air Station Miramar officials said the pilot ejected and was transported to a local medical facility in stable condition for evaluation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
No other injuries were reported.

NEW: ICE San Francisco arrested criminal alien Gerardo Larios-Ramirez, 52, of Mexico. Lario was sentenced to 3 years for selling amphetamines in Sonoma County; and 15 to life for murder, manslaughter and witness intimidation in Marin County. He has been removed from the U.S.

Rest in Peace, Town Marshal Brad Fisher of the Lynn Police Department in Indiana. End of Watch: July 29, 2026.
Town Marshal Fisher served for 25 years, including his time as a firefighter and EMT with the Lynn Community. He is survived by his wife and two adult children.

Over an incredible 64 years in law enforcement, including 32 years as Executive Director of the Los Angeles HIDTA, Roger has been a trusted friend and valued partner to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. His leadership, mentorship, and advocacy for federal resources and technology have strengthened our efforts to combat drug trafficking and support law enforcement throughout Southern California.

Sen. Rand Paul has now scheduled a contempt vote. The Senate still has the power to arrest him themselves through inherent contempt if they choose to use it.

A complaint alleges Alexandra Lozano used images of the Virgin of Guadalupe "in her marketing materials to convey the impression she is capable of miracles." It also claims she submitted "fraudulent" paperwork for some clients, asserting they were victims of abuse or trafficking "often without their knowledge or their consent."
