Police say protesters entered a privately owned building housing an ICE surveillance and analysis center in Williston, Vermont, and refused repeated requests to leave.

Several participants departed after speaking with authorities. Thirteen others remained and were arrested, with at least 12 facing unlawful trespass charges. Information concerning one juvenile was not released.

Political demonstrations are constitutionally protected. Entering private property and refusing lawful orders to leave can still carry legal consequences.

'Not a harmless joke': Las Vegas man gets 9 months in prison for pointing laser at Metro helicopter.

Sergio Octavio Sanchez aimed the beam of a green laser pointer at a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department helicopter several times on Jan. 2, 2025, according to court documents. The helicopter was providing air support for officers on the ground. When the laser struck the aircraft, the pilot had to shield his eyes and divert from its assignment and flight path.
