On Sunday 7/26/2026 SLTPD was notified by an El Dorado County Sheriffs Sergeant that a male subject had lowered the American Flag from the front of the SLTPD station to the ground and was trying to light it on fire. Officers quickly arrived and detained a 36 year old South Lake Tahoe resident. Officers determined that the male had just been released from the jail after having been arrested on Saturday 7/25/2026 by SLTPD for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Public Intoxication after he was reported to have been shooting arrows at the Y. The male has been arrested by SLTPD six times since April 2026 for Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, being Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, and Resisting Arrest. The suspect was arrested and booked back into the El Dorado County Jail for felony Attempted Arson.

The Newport Beach Police Department warned organizers and attendees of an end-of-summer beach party after hundreds of people were arrested at a similar gathering on July 4th.

BREAKING: Two people were killed and five others were injured in a shooting at Seattle Center Sunday afternoon.

The Seattle Police Department first confirmed the shooting around 6:30 p.m.

According to the Seattle Fire Department, two people died and five others were injured, including a two-year-old boy. Paramedics say all victims are in stable condition, apart from a 56-year-old woman, who is in serious condition.

There is currently a large police presence by The Armory. Police have shut down Seattle Center grounds as they investigate the area.

The shooting happened as the Seattle Center was hosting the Bite of Seattle event.

A 30-year-old twice-deported illegal immigrant from Honduras has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for murder-for-hire, cocaine trafficking, and illegal firearm possession.

After selling guns to informants, Frelin Hernandez Guardado offered discounted cocaine in exchange for help killing someone he believed had cooperated with law enforcement. Investigators intercepted him before the plot could be carried out. The case underscores both the risks of repeated illegal re-entry and the work that stopped a planned killing.

NEW CHP K-9 TEAM JOINS THE RANKS!

A new CHP K-9 team servicing the Ventura Office area has started! K-9 Rex is 2 years old and got some experience last night at a pursuit termination scene in Oxnard getting to sniff the suspect vehicle. The team is expected to be in service for the next several years in assisting CHP officers and local law enforcement.

Chaos erupted during a street takeover in Los Angeles today when a vehicle struck two individuals. One of the victims, a young woman, suffered a severe leg injury after being run over, now video being used in a police investigation to find the driver responsible.

NEW: A man is facing multiple charges, including attempted homicide, after Pennsylvania State Police say he shot at troopers in Indiana County on Sunday.

In a press release, PSP says troopers were called to Valley Road in Young Township around 11:45 a.m. for a disturbance. The victim alleged that Robert Richard II, 60, who lived at a neighboring residence, was pointing an automatic rifle at his home while he and his fiancé were inside.

Once troopers got on scene, they reportedly saw Richard outside the victim’s home, holding a long gun.

Then, PSP says Richard “opened fire directly at troopers.” Troopers returned fire, hitting Richard in the shoulder.

Troopers took Richard into custody and rendered first aid on scene before he was taken to Forbes Hospital for further treatment.

Richard is now facing multiple charges, including criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault and assault of a law enforcement officer.
