On 7/13, 26, the United States Marshals Service (Violent Offender Task Force) and sheriff's deputies from the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office were attempting to apprehend a violent suspect in Alexandria, Louisiana at approximately 3 p.m.

While doing so, Marshals and deputies were faced with gunfire and Deputy U.S. Marshal Drew Hanson was killed.  The suspect was later taken into custody.

Deputy Marshal Drew Hanson served in law enforcement for 26 years.  He started with local law enforcement before transferring to Homeland Security as a Border Patrol Agent.  He then served as an ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) Agent, and then later as a United States Marshal.  He is survived by his Fiancé, children, & parents.

All evacuation warnings have been lifted for the Summit Fire. Residents are free to resume normal activities. Be cautious of first responders on scene and remain alert of any status updates.

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect through Thursday evening increasing the risk of heat-related illness for ground personnel.

Amidst intense heat, operational priorities will focus on maintaining strict safety protocols and monitoring for potential thunderstorms. Crews will continue strengthening control lines, mopping up hot spots, and identifying secondary contingency lines.

NEW: A Mount Pleasant SC Police officer was injured in a crash on Anna Knapp Boulevard while responding to a different crash on Tuesday morning.

Officers with the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to a collision after a vehicle lost control on Interstate 526 eastbound and crashed onto Mathis Ferry Road at 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday.

A vehicle reportedly fell from an I-526 overpass onto Mathis Ferry Road, injuring the driver. Officers said the driver refused to be taken to the hospital by EMS.

MPPD is investigating the cause of the I-526 collision.

While responding to that collision, an MPPD officer was involved in a collision on the corner of Highway 17 and Anna Knapp Boulevard. The officer was taken to a local medical facility by EMS to be treated for moderate injuries, officials said.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, according to officials; however, the driver and two juvenile occupants did go to the hospital on their own to be evaluated after the collision.

A dog fell 40 feet down a cliffside in Washington state after chasing a rabbit last week.⁠

A neighbor heard the animal in distress, and Pierce County rescue personnel came to its aid. The dog spent the night at a shelter until its owner was located the following day.

On Tuesday July 14, 2026, Captain Shelly Carrao has honorably retired with 25 years of dedicated service with the Nevada State Police. Capt. Carrao started her career with the Nevada Parole and Probation and moved up the ranks while working in different assignments. In October 2022, Capt. Carrao transferred to the Nevada Highway Patrol where she was assigned to oversee the Rural, Tourism and Commercial operations. We would like to honor and commend Capt. Carrao for her outstanding service and contributions to the safety and well being of the citizens of the Great State of Nevada. NEW: A man who was deported following a 2024 federal f3nt conviction is now facing new federal charges after authorities say he returned to the U.S. Prosecutors also allege he stbbed a passenger on a Muni bus near 6th and Mission in San Francisco on July 30th last year. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear back in federal court on July 16th.

In speaking with numerous ICE sources today, most are expressing frustration that this will cause their arrest numbers to fall off a cliff while in effect. A large majority of their arrests involve vehicle stops. They will now largely have to rely on court arrests, detainer transfers, USCIS interviews, or “consensual encounters”/roving patrols on foot to make arrests in bigger numbers.

ICE prefers to target people in their vehicles instead of their homes because homes require a judicial warrant to enter and vehicles are considered safer (someone can run into a home and grab a weapon etc) and targets can be followed to public areas where warrants aren’t required.

In all the ICE embeds I’ve done over the years, I would say 90% + of the targets were arrested in vehicle stops, though, they were egregious aliens (murderers, rapists etc), and those vehicle stops are still allowed to continue for now. This will have a bigger impact on targets in the U.S. illegally who have committed no other crimes.
