The threat of widespread outages loomed in Southern California after the winds moved to the Los Angeles area, where a wildfire fueled by strong Santa Ana winds prompted officials to order the evacuation of 100,000 people from their homes in the foothills of…
LA wildfires continue to rage: Blazes that have killed three and forced more than 100,000 to evacuate move across Southern California, as it's revealed an electrical tower may be to blame and PG&E restores power for two million in the north. In a news release from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the declared portions of six California areas have poor air quality. The news release said: 'It is difficult to tell where smoke, ash or soot from a fire will go, or how winds will affect the level of these particles in the air, so we ask everyone to remember that smoke and ash can be harmful to health, even for people who are healthy.' They warn residents to pay attention to their immediate environment if they see smoke, soot or ash. Authorities have ordered mandatory evacuations in the Granada Hills, Porter Ranch and Oakridge Estates neighborhoods affecting about 100,000 people on the northern edge of the city in the San Fernando Valley area. πŸ”₯😱

Live at the #FreeHongKong and #OneChina protests in Newcastle, I've gathered opinions of both sets of protesters and both believe strongly in their cause, it's getting more heated as time goes on, and all mingled in one area.
Ecuador's President Lenin Moreno has ordered the army on to the streets of the capital after a week-and-a-half of mass protests over a scrapped state fuel subsidy descended into violence. Masked protesters attacked a television station, newspaper and the national auditor's office, setting it ablaze and sending black smoke billowing across the capital Quito's park and cultural complex around 1pm local time. About two hours later, a group of several dozen masked men swarmed the offices of the private Teleamazonas television station in northern Quito, set fires on the grounds and tried to break into the building where about 20 employees were trapped. President Moreno blamed the violence on drug traffickers, organised crime and followers of former president Rafael Correa, who has denied allegations he is trying to topple Mr Moreno's government.
California will be the first state to ban the sale and manufacture of new fur products and the third to bar most animals from circus performances under a pair of bills signed Saturday by Governor Gavin Newsom. The fur law bars residents from selling or making clothing, shoes or handbags with fur starting in 2023. Animal rights groups cheered the measure as a stand against inhumane practices. The proposal was vigorously opposed by the billion-dollar U.S. fur industry, and the Fur Information Council of America has already threatened to sue. It follows Newsom's signing of legislation that makes California the first state to outlaw fur trapping and follows bans on sales of fur in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Riot police took to the streets of Hong Kong as pro-democracy demonstrators threw petrol bombs and vandalised metro stations amid months of protests in the region. Hundreds of protesters defied police warnings that they were gathering illegally as they met to launch petrol bombs and damage several metro stations in Hong Kong. Hundreds of protesters had been marching towards a district near Kowloon West when a petrol bomb was launched inside the Kowloon Tong station. The station was said to be seriously damaged in the attack but police confirmed no one had been injured. Petrol bombs were also thrown outside stations in Lai Chi Kok and Sham Shui Po as hundreds of protesters in masks took to the streets. πŸ”₯#HK
