UPDATE: Officials have cleared a Chicago cop who killed a man who tried to rob her of her gun during an off-duty confrontation in 2023. She stepped out of her apartment building to help the man after he got beat up by 3 people — but he turned on her and tried to take her weapon.

“Damn! I gotta go to work today,” she scolded him after the shooting. Your dumb ass just got me in trouble.”

🐻 Seeing a bear can be exciting…and sometimes a little scary!

If you spot a bear that is simply passing through and isn’t acting aggressively, it’s not necessary to call 911. Instead, share your photos or videos here and let the community know where you’ve seen bears popping up so everyone can stay informed. (This video was taken by our Swings A Team.)

If you encounter a bear, give it plenty of space and make lots of noise so it knows you’re there and can move along. Most bears want to avoid people.

You can also help prevent bear visits by keeping trash secured, bringing in bird feeders, and not leaving pet food or other food sources outside.
