Sgt. Ross began his career as a patrol Trooper in Troop A and went on to fulfill a variety of entrusted roles, including assignments with the Major Crime Unit, the Special Events Response Team and the Motorcycle Unit. In recent years, he served as the Commander of the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (C.A.R.) Unit.

Deputy Gillstrap passed away early this morning surrounded by his loving wife and beautiful daughters.
Deputy Gillstrap began his law enforcement career in 1987. After retiring, he returned to the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office in 2019, where he proudly served in the Court Security Division. His dedication to public service, his fellow officers, and the citizens of Ohio County never wavered.
Above all, Deputy Gillstrap was a devoted husband, father, and Christian. His kindness, professionalism, and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
