As we celebrate our Nation's 250th Anniversary this Fourth of July, Los Angeles County public safety and medical officials have one important message: Celebrate Responsibly.
Illegal fireworks can cause devastating injuries, fires, and property damage in an instant. Protect your family, your neighbors, and your community by leaving fireworks to the professionals. Instead, enjoy one of the many professionally conducted fireworks shows throughout Los Angeles County and make safe choices this Independence Day.
Enjoy yourselves responsibly, look out for one another, and have a safe Fourth of July.

After taking on violent crime and entrenched corruption in New Orleans, itβs no surprise the status quo is looking for ways to stop me.
This unprecedented action and the corrupt indictments spawned from it are retaliatory, meritless, and unconstitutional. After confidential information was illegally leaked to members of the press by the grand jury or the improperly appointed, unqualified special prosecutor, there are now indications that the court handcuffed and locked out members of the mediaβand threatened them with contemptβin clear violation of Louisiana law. It is beyond ironic that the improperly appointed special prosecutor, who called my office and violated the confidentiality of the grand jury proceedings herself, claims protecting confidentiality justified closing the courtroom. And the grand jury that leaked information like a sinking ship hardly seemed concerned about privacy.
I will be immediately filing an emergency supervisory writ with the Louisiana Supreme Court. Hopefully this will be sorted out quickly.
I will not back down. I will continue enforcing the law, fighting corruption, and doing the job the people of Louisiana elected me to do.
Attorney General Liz Murrill

Be part of the solution - not the spectacle.
Skip the street takeover and choose safety every time.
Obey traffic laws. Stay alert and watch out for everyone on the road. Save the stunts for approved tracks and organized events where safety comes first.
Letβs make sure everyone gets home safely.
Sheriff Luna and LASD urge everyone not to participate in, attend, or encourage illegal street takeovers. Together, we can help keep our roads safe for everyone.

250 years ago, on the eve of Americaβs momentous vote for Independence, Caesar Rodney received word that he was urgently needed to break a deadlock among the Delegates to the Second Continental Congress. Although he suffered from asthma and facial cancer, Rodney immediately set forth on a 80-mile overnight journey by horseback from Dover, Delaware, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Enduring a raging thunderstorm, he arrived 250 years ago this very day, July 2, 1776, to cast his decisive vote, and secure Americaβs glorious destiny of Freedom and Independence. An equestrian statue honoring Rodneyβs key contribution now anchors Spirit of 76β at Freedom Plaza, a new Exhibition in Washington, D.C., honoring the heroes and martyrs of the American Revolution. Go and see!
