UPDATE: Several people were arrested Wednesday morning across Southern California as part of a federal crackdown on sex trafficking along the Figueroa Corridor.
LAPD Chief McDonnel: "By working hand in hand with our federal partners, we are doing far more than making arrests. We are dismantling the criminal enterprises that profit from human trafficking, rescuing victims, and reclaiming the Figueroa Corridor for the community that has always deserved better."

Deputy Rachel Marginean didn’t grow up with a family law enforcement legacy.
Despite initial resistance from her parents, she decided to become a police cadet at just 15 years old, joining a program for high school students interested in law enforcement careers.
“My father came to the U.S. at age 14 to escape communism,” said Marginean, who insists her family’s story of resilience has continually shaped her journey as a Multnomah County deputy.
It’s been 10 years since she joined the cadets, and Deputy Marginean says she knows it was the right decision.

“Today, Wednesday, July 1, West Sacramento Fire Department crews responded to the Capital Yards Apartments for a reported structure fire.
Upon arrival, crews observed smoke coming from a third-story apartment. Crews quickly searched the unit and confirmed that all residents had safely evacuated. During the search, firefighters also located and rescued two feline residents.
Thanks to the rapid response of emergency personnel, the fire was confined to the single unit, minimizing damage to the rest of the building. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the displaced residents.
We would like to thank our automatic aid partners at the Sacramento Fire Department , City of Davis Fire Department and American Medical Response - Sacramento Valley EMS for their assistance on scene and for providing coverage within the City while our crews were committed to the incident.”

It appears a two-vehicle collision resulted in a massive car fire on Robertson Blvd near 3rd Street at around 6pm this evening. Firefighters are on the scene and have put out the fire. It is not yet clear if the incident is related to a police chase of a burglary suspect in a white Lexus that began on West Hollywood on The Sunset Strip at around the same time near the area.
