Champaign County Sheriff's Office, Ohio, sadly announced the passing of deputy Norma "Kay" Moffitt.
Kay began her career with the Champaign County Sheriff's Office in 1977 as a dispatcher. She dedicated herself to serving our community and, in 1989, was sworn in as a Deputy Sheriff. Through her hard work, leadership, and unwavering commitment, she earned the rank of Sergeant and was entrusted with overseeing both the Dispatch Center and Records Department.
To those who worked alongside her, βMawβ was much more than a coworker. She was a mentor, a leader, and a friend. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, share her knowledge, or offer words of encouragement. Her professionalism was matched only by her kindness, and she was deeply respected and genuinely loved by her peers.
After more than three decades of dedicated service, Kay retired in 2007, leaving behind a legacy of commitment, integrity, and compassion that continues to be remembered by those who had the privilege of serving with her.

NEW: A suspect was arrested after a shooting near San Franciscoβs Pride festivities Saturday afternoon that left one person wounded and an officer injured during a foot pursuit, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
Just after 3:30 p.m., officers were monitoring Pride events near United Nations Plaza when a shooting occurred, SFPD said.
Officers found a person suffering from a gunshot wound and rendered aid until paramedics arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital. Police said the individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said officers in the area located a possible suspect who matched the description provided. A foot pursuit ensued, and officers quickly apprehended and detained the suspect. Investigators later developed probable cause to arrest the suspect, according to SFPD.

A few people were injured today while at an event to raise funds for an injured deputy.
Richland police took to social media saying that a vehicle collided with the officer that was on his motorcycle.
That officer was taken to a local hospital and is being treated for his injuries.
The incident happened around 11 a.m. on Saturday in Columbia on highway 13.
Dozens gathered in the town for a benefit ride to support deputy Yates Rodney who was shot in line of duty last month.
Yates is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries.
