An evening update from the Cottonwood Fire outside Beaver, Utah, from Great Basin Team 5:

“On the west-side of the fire, outside of the City of Beaver, fire activity located in Baker Canyon put up a large convection column and exhibited extreme uphill runs. That fire behavior prompted the Beaver County Sheriff's Office to move the community of North Creek into "Set" evacuation status, which was later reduced back to "Ready."

Throughout this afternoon and into this evening, crews worked to establish firebreaks in the area.

The smoke column was substantial and caused smoke impact over the mountain in Marysville, carried by SW winds.
On the east-side, the fire was active above Cottonwood Canyon located south of the 2024 Silver King Fire. Crews continued to put in fireline and improve existing features in this area. This work will continue into the night shift.

Evacuation centers have been established in Beaver for anyone who has evacuated due to the fire. They are located at: The National Guard Armory, the Beaver High School, and Beaver City Hall.

Red Flag conditions will continue through the night and into tomorrow. Please be extraordinarily careful with anything that could spark a fire.”

NEW: ICE Los Angeles is reducing the scourge of illegal alien drug distributors in SOCAL. Sebastian Pena-Arredondo from Mexico was convicted of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and reentry. Sentenced to 15 years in prison, he is now in ICE custody pending removal.

NEW: A San Diego bouncer has been arrested after video shows him blasting a customer in the face with his taser.

A bouncer was caught on camera firing a taser into a man’s face at point-blank range outside a Carlsbad venue in a shocking attack.

The security guard is seen in the clip pulling out a stun gun and aiming it only inches from the shirtless victim’s face before shooting, sending the man to ground writhing in pain.

The victim is then seen crawling on the sidewalk as concerned bystanders check on him.

NEW: Los Angeles City fire crews knocked down a blaze that erupted at a U-Haul facility in the Westlake District on Friday afternoon. No injuries were reported.

NEW: ICE Los Angeles arrested Martin Gutierrez-Gaona, 38, of Mexico, June. 25. Gutierrez is a member of the Southside Huntington Beach Gang and has previous arrests for possession of narcotics, assault with a deadly weapon, and forgery. He is in ICE custody pending removal.

WATCH: An angry man was caught on camera throwing things at an SUV in San Francisco and hanging off the side of the victim’s vehicle while the driver tried to get away.

ICE says a Brazilian national was arrested during an enforcement operation on I-81 in Virginia while operating a tractor-trailer without a CDL.

Officials said he had a Massachusetts driver’s license, but did not have the commercial license required to drive the rig.

On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, three firefighters were injured in a dramatic house explosion on Whidbey Island, Washington.

The explosion was fueled by hundreds of pounds of fireworks stored inside the residence (one report cited around 700 pounds). Officials believe the fireworks ignited after someone smoked nearby (possibly a cigarette). The exact ignition source is still under investigation by the Region 3 Arson Task Force and the ATF.

Three firefighters were hurt by the blast: two deputy chiefs and one firefighter from Central Whidbey Island Fire & Rescue and South Whidbey Fire/EMS.
