UPDATE: Authorities have released more details on the St. Peter standoff that left the suspect dead and an officer injured on June 18.

HELP NEEDED: St. Peter Police Officer Austin Buss was critically injured last week after being shot in the line of duty.

“The incident began as a traffic stop in Mankato and escalated into a pursuit that continued into St. Peter. Authorities say the suspect fled into a residence, where an exchange of gunfire occurred with responding officers. During the incident, Officer Buss was struck by gunfire and suffered serious injuries. Officer Buss remains in recovery as he and his family face the difficult road ahead,” a statement reads.

"Today, our family at the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office suffered a heartbreaking loss with the line-of-duty death of Deputy Damien Bost following a motor vehicle collision.

Deputy Bost’s loss is deeply felt throughout our agency, and our immediate focus is standing beside his family and loved ones. President Trump says the vandals accused of damaging the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool have been caught, alleging they used a box cutter or other sharp object to slash the newly restored pool and dumped fertilizer into the water.

Speaking during the White House Rose Garden Club Dinner with American farmers, Trump said the suspects "have some problems ahead of them" and described them as "sick people."

Trump praised crews for quickly restoring the Reflecting Pool, saying it “looks beautiful.”

“Does anybody here not like their children? Please raise your hand.”

President Trump joked with a crowd of farmers while touting the elimination of the federal estate tax on family farms and small businesses under the One Big Beautiful Bill.

Trump said the change will allow farming families to pass their land on to the next generation without facing what he described as the burden of the “death tax.”
