A Larimer County Sheriff’s Office sergeant and deputy and one of the men's family members were killed  in a motorcycle crash while vacationing in Idaho.

"Larimer County, we’re heartbroken to share information about a sudden and tragic loss within our agency.

On June 16, an LCSO Deputy, Sergeant, and Sergeant’s family member were vacationing together on a motorcycle trip. The men were traveling on a North Idaho scenic highway when a pickup truck attempted to pass another vehicle in a marked no-passing zone. The truck crossed the double yellow centerline and collided with the motorcycles, killing all three riders.

The truck driver was arrested and booked into the Idaho County Jail on three counts of vehicular manslaughter. Idaho State Police are investigating this crash.

Out of respect for their families’ strong desire for privacy, we aren’t identifying the deputies at this time.

There are no good words in a situation like this. Put simply, these were incredible people who dedicated their lives to making Larimer County better every single day. They trained hard, they served well, and they loved life. As we walk the long and winding path of grief alongside their families, our resolve is stronger than ever:

For them, we’ll bring light into dark places.
For them, we’ll stand for good and fight against evil.
For them, we’ll live each day with gratitude and carry their legacy forward.

Rest easy, brothers. We’ve got it from here.

NEW: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the Jason Raynor Act into law Tuesday in Winter Haven, sending a direct message to anyone who attacks a police officer in Florida: the consequences are now permanent.

The law, named for Daytona Beach Police Officer Jason Raynor β€” who was shot and killed in the line of duty in 2021 β€” requires a life sentence without the possibility of parole for anyone convicted of manslaughter resulting in the death of a protected law enforcement officer.

β€œThe message we send with this bill is simple,” DeSantis said at the signing ceremony. β€œIf you attack a member of law enforcement in Florida, prepare to be held accountable.”

The Orange County Sheriff's Office VA sadly announced the death of Captain Becky Jones, who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

"For 26 years, Captain Jones faithfully served the citizens of Orange County in a variety of roles throughout her distinguished career. She began as a dispatcher before serving as a School Resource Officer, SRO Sergeant, Investigator, Lieutenant of Investigations, Lieutenant of Training and Public Information Officer, and ultimately as Captain of Investigations and Animal Control.

Captain Jones was a true trailblazer within our agency. She was the first female Captain in the history of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the first female SWAT Team member and the first female Firearms Instructor. She earned certifications as a RAD Instructor and General Instructor and was VSI Certified through the Virginia Sheriffs' Institute, a distinction that reflects her commitment to professional development and excellence in law enforcement.
During her career, she continually broke barriers and set an example for future generations of law enforcement officers."

Rest Easy Sister. Prayers for her family of blue and blood.πŸ™πŸ»

We’re excited to unveil the Modesto Police Department’s newest lowrider! A one-of-a-kind vehicle built through partnership, creativity, and community pride.

This project was made possible through the City of Modesto’s contribution of a retired police vehicle, the support of local partners, and the incredible dedication and craftsmanship of students from Modesto High School and Modesto Junior College, who helped bring this vision to life.

We are grateful to the Modesto City Council for supporting this unique project and investing in opportunities that strengthen the relationship between our officers and the community we proudly serve.

This Crown Victoria isn’t just a car, t’s a conversation starter that celebrates the rich culture, creativity, and traditions that make our community unique. We look forward to bringing it to community events, schools, and neighborhood gatherings where it will help create positive interactions and lasting connections.

πŸ”₯ And there’s more… this is our June sticker! 😎 Make sure to stop by the department and grab one while supplies last!

A huge thank you to everyone who played a role in making this project a reality. This is what community collaboration looks like! πŸ™ŒπŸ½

Drone Technology Helps Capture Dangerous Suspect

On May 15, Richmond Police officers responded to reports of a reckless driver who was intentionally driving on the wrong side of the roadway in an apparent attempt to cause a collision.

When officers arrived, the suspect intentionally accelerated his vehicle toward a responding officer, forcing the officer to take immediate evasive action. A vehicle pursuit was authorized; however, after the suspect turned off his headlights and entered the freeway traveling the wrong direction, the pursuit was safely terminated.

Shortly afterward, the suspect collided with another vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area.

Fortunately, Richmond Police Department’s Drone as a First Responder (DFR) program was overhead throughout the entire incident, providing officers with real-time aerial intelligence and maintaining continuous visual contact with the suspect. This critical technology, combined with the efforts of our officers and K-9 Bane, led to the successful apprehension of this dangerous individual.

This incident highlights how innovative public safety technology can help officers make informed decisions, reduce risk to the community, and safely bring dangerous situations to a resolution.

Outstanding teamwork by our patrol officers, K-9 Bane, and DFR operators!
