🚨 HELP US IDENTIFY THIS CHILD 🚨

Gastonia Police officers are trying to identify and locate the family of this young boy.

He is a Black male, believed to be approximately 3-4 years old, non-verbal, and may have special needs. The child was found on Belfast Drive after he was nearly struck by a vehicle. A concerned citizen called police, and officers immediately began searching the surrounding area for his family.

Patrol officers checked a four-block area and spoke with nearby residents, but no parent or guardian could be located. While efforts continued, the little guy spent the afternoon at the Gastonia Police Department, where officers watched cartoons with him and made sure he had plenty of snacks (he appears to be a big fan of cheese crackers!).

Because no family could be immediately identified, the Department of Social Services responded and has assumed custody of the child.

NEW: The Baltimore County police officer who was critically injured after being shot in Pikesville less than two weeks ago has been released from the hospital.

Officer Catalfamo was shot in the head and was released from Shock Trauma late Wednesday night, surrounded by family and fellow officers.

POTUS tells the story of Colonel John W. Ripley, a Marine Corps hero to whom he will soon posthumously award the Congressional Medal of Honor:

"Dangling beneath the bridge and over the rushing water... completely exposed to withering enemy gunfire, John completed, not one, not two, but five such trips."

POTUS prepares to award the Congressional Medal of Honor to Retired U.S. Army Major Nicholas Dockery:

"At one point, he killed a Taliban fighter and detained two others. As he reached Sergeant Mitchell, a grenade came raining down. Without thinking, Nick tackled Sergeant Mitchell, likely saving his life."

POTUS at a Medal of Honor ceremony: "As we approach the 250th anniversary of our founding, we remember that we owe everything to heroes like those we celebrate today—men who went willingly to the darkest and most dangerous corners on earth to defeat evil so we could live free." 🇺🇸

Then-Second Lieutenant James Capers, Jr. receives the Medal of Honor for acts of gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty as a Team Leader with 3d Force Reconnaissance Company, 3d Reconnaissance Battalion in the Republic of Vietnam from March 31 to April 3, 1967.

During a four-day reconnaissance patrol, he and his team were tasked with locating a North Vietnamese regimental base camp. Despite making contact with a numerically superior enemy force on three separate occasions, he tenaciously continued the mission. He successfully directed fire onto an enemy base camp, thwarting an impending attack on a nearby Marine battalion.

On the final day, his patrol was ambushed by a claymore mine and came under a dense barrage of enemy fire, where he sustained multiple severe wounds. Ignoring his injuries and extreme blood loss, he continued to lead his team, coordinate supporting fire, and direct their movement to an extraction site. Refusing to be evacuated before all his men were safe, he ensured the entire team was extracted before finally boarding the helicopter.
