WATCH LIVE: VP JD Vance takes questions from reporters during a White House briefing after Trump signs US-Iran memorandum of understanding.
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1XKjkDzQD7/
VP: "Last night, 12.5M barrels of oil went through the Strait of Hormuz. That is a high since the beginning of the conflict. Oil prices are down nearly at their level from the pre-war [level]. Gas prices dropped below $4/gallon today for the first time since the conflict, and importantly, they're going to keep falling further... The Iranians, for the second night in a row, did not shoot at any ships in the Strait of Hormuz."
VP: "I've seen skeptics of the deal, people say, 'the Iranians will never change their behavior!' Well, maybe that's true, and if so, they don't get ANY of the benefits of the bargainโbut isn't it worth trying? Isn't it worth seeing whether this incredibly weakened position that POTUS has put the Iranians under... motivates them to change their behavior?"
VP: The simple fact is that the only way the Iranians get any of those resources โ not a single penny, by the way, from the U.S., under any circumstances โ is if they comply fully and change their behavior.
VP: "We destroyed a substantial number of their ballistic missiles and their ballistic missile launchers... all POTUS said yesterday is that of course countries don't give up the right of self defense...but we do expect that it's part of the final dealโthey are not going to be able to build the kind of missiles that can broadly threaten the entire world."
VP: "You're talking about billions and billions of nuclear infrastructure that the U.S. destroyed. In order for them to rebuild that program, they would have to get a lot of money โ and we have them in an economic chokehold right now that we're not going to release until they fundamentally change their behavior... That would mean a real inspections regime. That would mean a real enforcement regime. That would mean the destruction of their enriched stockpile."
"We believe international waterways should be free of tolls...that's what you see in the 60 days of the MOU," says VP.
"The MOU contemplates that the Omani's, the Iranians, and the Gulf coalition together will figure out a proper security framework for the straits in the future, and what I mean by that is that we donโt ever want this to happen again. Thatโs not about tollingโthatโs about ensuring that the Straits are never used as a chokepoint for the global economy ever again."
VP: "One of the reasons we are engaged in this process is to ensure that no money is flowing to Hezbollah... What I would say to you know some of the the the critics of the deal that Iโve heard, that will say, 'well, Iranโs gonna get all this benefit.' ... What is the benefit that the Iranians get that they didnโt have before? The answer is nothing."
VP explains the differences between the POTUS-negotiated MOU and the disastrous Obama JCPOA:
"The Obama deal gave them over a billion dollars of American money. This deal gives them ZERO dollars of American money."
VP: "They have committed to the destruction of the highly-enriched stockpile that they have in their possession... All we've done is lift the blockade... That's not a new benefit to the Iranians; they were selling oil for many, many yearsโwell before we ever put the blockade."
VP: "Have a little bit of faith in POTUS ... he believes in this deal, he is going to see it to completion, and if the Iranians don't comply, we still have every single tool and point of leverage that we have today."

Assistant Attorney General Colin McDonald on today's fraud crackdown announcement in Boston:
โIn response to identifying serious fraud in Massachusetts, HSI has significantly increased our resources dedicated to rooting out these pernicious fraudsters. With a commitment of resources, HSI is making real progress, dismantling identity document dealers, finding government benefit fraudsters, and arresting those who are stealing from government taxpayer-funded programs.โ
"Illegal immigration carries real and substantial costs to American taxpayers and places enormous strain on our public benefits systems. And the further we look, the more fraud we find. Under the leadership of POTUS, VP, Acting Attorney General DAGToddBlanche, and the WH FraudTF, TheJusticeDept and our fraud-fighting partners are aggressively pursuing fraud no matter how small, no matter how big, and no matter how hard. We will follow the facts and the law to bring criminal actors to justice, regardless of the perpetratorโs citizenship, immigration status, position or title."

๐จ HELP US IDENTIFY THIS CHILD ๐จ
Gastonia Police officers are trying to identify and locate the family of this young boy.
He is a Black male, believed to be approximately 3-4 years old, non-verbal, and may have special needs. The child was found on Belfast Drive after he was nearly struck by a vehicle. A concerned citizen called police, and officers immediately began searching the surrounding area for his family.
Patrol officers checked a four-block area and spoke with nearby residents, but no parent or guardian could be located. While efforts continued, the little guy spent the afternoon at the Gastonia Police Department, where officers watched cartoons with him and made sure he had plenty of snacks (he appears to be a big fan of cheese crackers!).
Because no family could be immediately identified, the Department of Social Services responded and has assumed custody of the child.
If you live in the Belfast Drive area and recognize this child from his clothing, or if you know of a family missing an adorable, energetic little boy matching this description, please contact Gastonia Police immediately at 704-866-6702.
