NEW: Authorities are investigating reports of a bus shooting in the Ladera Heights area.
Investigators with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department were on scene after officials said a rider accidentally shot himself late Wednesday morning
Officials said the shooting happened at 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Slauson and South Fairfax avenues. Los Angeles County fire officials confirmed one person was taken to an area hospital.

The Clayton County GA Police Department sadly announced the death of officer Katrina D. Kanu who passed away Monday after battling a critical illness.
Officer Kanu was an extremely compassionate and dedicated law enforcement professional who served the citizens of Clayton County with honor and distinction. She was known for her warm smile, caring spirit, and genuine concern for everyone she encountered. Her kindness, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to service left a lasting impact on her colleagues and the community she proudly served.
Officer Kanu joined the Clayton County Police Department on September 24, 2022, and quickly became a valued member of our law enforcement family. Beyond her service to the community, she was an amazingly kind-hearted person who loved her family and friends immensely.

Troopers responded to a crash on I-57 near market Street in Champaign and found the driver not breathing. They quickly broke a window to reach her, began CPR, and deployed their AED, continuing lifesaving efforts until EMS arrived. On Monday, we got an update that the driver was recovering and the Troopers stopped by to visit and wish her well.

A heartbreaking and disturbing investigation is underway after 61-year-old James Edward Sinkfield, a retired City of Atlanta Police Department, GA officer who continued serving as a university police officer, was found dead outside his home Saturday morning. Emergency crews responded to a call about an unresponsive person and discovered him lying in his driveway. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Family members reportedly found blood inside the home, adding to the mystery surrounding his death. Investigators are now working to determine exactly what happened. Officer Sinkfield dedicated years of his life to protecting others. Now, his family is searching for answers.

A 6-year-old boy was found floating unconscious in a Florida pool. Seconds later, an ICE officer jumped in to save him.
ICE law enforcement officer Gregory Simmonds spotted the child in distress in Pasco County on May 16 and immediately pulled him from the water.
The child wasn't breathing, and Simmonds began life-saving CPR at the scene until the boy regained consciousness.
Local authorities say the child is expected to make a full recovery, a rescue DHS is calling an act of bravery.
