Bakersfield Hostage Taker Neutralized:  Dishonorably Discharged Vet Criminal Record! 

Federal agents have identified the suspect who was shot and killed after holding 10 people hostage inside a bank building in Bakersfield, California for approximately 12 hours.

FBI Special Agent in Charge for the Sacramento field office Sid Patel identified the suspect as Anthony Scott Searles-Harris, a 41-year-old White man who was "no stranger to law enforcement."

Searles-Harris had previously been dishonorably discharged from the U.S. Army for going absent without leave during his service and is also a registered sex offender.

Two hostages were released before Searles-Harris, who had explosive materials including a bomb, was “neutralized" around 4:20 a.m.

NEW: Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say the trooper involved in a fatal shooting near Benson was injured during the incident and is recovering at home.
The trooper involved has 28 years of law enforcement experience. Investigators report the trooper stopped 39-year-old Berkleigh Bond for speeding on Interstate 10 on May 25.
Bond gave a false identity and resisted arrest last Monday morning before 8 a.m. DPS says she tried to drive away with the trooper partially inside the vehicle.
The trooper fired, and Bond died at the scene.

BREAKING: The U.S. Department of Agriculture says a case of New World Screwworm may have been detected in South Texas. The sample is now at the USDA's National Veterinary Services Laboratories in Ames, Iowa, for confirmatory testing, Rusty Surette reports.

The USDA says it has already activated personnel on the ground and is working with local partners.
