“The deaths of Rip and Boomer remain under investigation by the Salem County Prosecutor’s Office, the Salem County Sheriff’s Office said.

“Their loyalty, service, and dedication to protecting the residents of Salem County will never be forgotten,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook. “We honor their lives with gratitude for all they gave and the service they performed alongside our officers in the countless ways they helped protect our community.

Due to the ongoing investigation, the sheriff’s office said they were unable to offer further comment.

“This office seeks to understand the full details of how this incident transpired and plans to release information when able,” the sheriff’s office said. “Until then, we must respectfully defer all questions to the Salem County Prosecutor’s Office.”

The dogs were working Friday and their K-9 handler has been placed on leave, Salem County Sheriff Charles Miller told NJ.com. The K-9s traveled together in a vehicle outfitted for two dogs, Miller said to NJ.com. The animals were pronounced dead after being taken to an emergency veterinary hospital in Delaware, Miller said to NJ.com.

The Salem County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the investigation.

“On behalf of the Salem County law enforcement community, we too mourn the tragic loss of K9 Officer Rip and K9 Officer Boomer, loyal partners who served with courage and dedication,” Prosecutor Kristin Telsey said.”

NEW: "A conflict between a Youtuber and a Bricks & Minifigs executive over a Lego collection worth $200,000 has garnered public attention and has led to accusations of misconduct being levied at the American Fork Police Department.

American Fork Police Department (AFPD) has publicly released information and footage related to the case in an effort to be transparent, and the department said that their involvement was limited to enforcing Utah state law.

The saga goes back to a case in Oregon, wherein a man claims that he entered into a consignment agreement with a Bricks & Minifigs franchise for his and his father’s Lego collection, reportedly worth $200,000. According to the lawsuit filed by Bricks & Minifigs, the franchisee breached the terms of their agreement, and the corporate franchisor sold the store to another franchisee.

At that point, the man asked for his property back, and the franchisee told him that they were not party to the consignment agreement and that they did not have his collection. Benjamin Schneider, known on YouTube with the name Reckless Ben, got involved in the case, creating videos about the situation on the man’s behalf and accusing the Bricks & Minifigs franchise of stealing.

Schneider was arrested twice by AFPD back in March after visiting the home of one of the franchise executives multiple times and attempting to serve him with legal papers. He was subsequently charged with two misdemeanors: stalking and targeted residential picketing. In a separate case, he was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespass after notice for an incident on December 10, 2025."

Surry County Detention Officer killed in crash on US 52.

On June 2 around 12:50 p.m., Winston-Salem Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on northbound US 52 near Motor Road / Patterson Avenue. 49-year-old Thomas James Smith III, a dedicated Detention Officer with the Surry County Sheriff’s Office, was driving a 2021 Dodge when his vehicle left the roadway, struck the median guardrail, and then collided with a 2012 Honda.

Tragically, Officer Smith was found unresponsive at the scene. He was transported to a hospital where he passed away. The other driver, 59-year-old Nicole Bumiller Uzzell, was not injured.

The Surry County Sheriff’s Office shared this emotional message:

“Please join us in praying for the Surry County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center family. Today, we suffered the loss of one of our own, Detention Officer Thomas James Smith III. Please keep his family, friends, fellow shift members, and co-workers in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. An on-duty Fort Worth police officer was injured Tuesday night in a crash with a suspect fleeing from a Department of Public Safety trooper, officials said.

The accident took place on Interstate 30 near Oakland Boulevard. The suspect’s vehicle collided with the officer’s vehicle as it approached the exit, according to police.

The officer was taken to a local hospital and was in stable condition as of Tuesday night, police said. The officer’s name hasn’t been released.

BREAKING: Active shooter in Magee, Mississippi.

Rankin County SWAT is responding to an active shooter incident.

Rankin County Sheriff Bailey said one deputy has been shot, and other deputies and civilians have been “pinned down by gunfire.”

He said the suspect is still shooting.

This according to Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey, who said the Rankin County SWAT team is assisting Simpson County officials at the scene located in the 100 block of W.L. Blair Circle in Mendenhall.

MBI INVESTIGATING OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN SIMPSON COUNTY

Pearl, Miss. - The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving multiple agencies that occurred on June 3rd at a residence on Blair Road in Mendenhall, Mississippi.

Deputies responded to the residence to conduct a welfare check. Upon arrival, the deputies realized there was a burglary in progress. The subject, a juvenile, fired a weapon at the deputies, striking one, and barricaded himself inside the home. The deputies discharged their weapons at the subject. A standoff occurred and multiple agencies responded to assist. When officers deployed tear gas inside the home, the subject escaped the home and fled on foot and fired a weapon towards officers. A state trooper discharged his weapon, striking the subject. The subject was then taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

One deputy was struck by gunfire and received non-life-threatening injuries. Upon entry of the residence, two individuals were found deceased. Their identities will be released by the local coroner pending next of kin notification.

No other law enforcement received any serious physical injury.

MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office. This information is preliminary and subject to change.
