For more than 35 minutes, firefighters fought to save a man’s life near MacArthur Park today after a suspected overdose. Despite every effort, he ultimately died on the sidewalk in the middle of Los Angeles.

Think about that.
A human being spent his final moments surrounded by chaos, addiction, and a city that has become numb to it all.

UPDATE: Authorities have identified the suspect accused of firing dozens of rounds through a Montgomery County neighborhood during an active shooter situation over Memorial Day weekend.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says Juan Ayala-Montero, 60, was arrested after allegedly firing a long gun at multiple people in the Kings Colony neighborhood in East County.

Investigators say the incident started as an altercation between Ayala-Montero and a 17-year-old male. Deputies say Ayala-Montero then began pointing the weapon at neighbors and firing in multiple directions. Detectives recovered approximately 31 shell casings from the scene.

When law enforcement arrived, authorities say Ayala-Montero barricaded himself inside his home before surrendering to the MCSO SWAT team without further incident.

Initial 911 calls reported multiple people had been shot, but investigators later determined only one person, a 17-year-old boy, was struck by gunfire. He was treated and released from a hospital.

That teen, identified as Uziel Samano, has also been charged with False Report to a Peace Officer after investigators say he provided untruthful information that hindered the investigation.

Ayala-Montero is charged with Felony Deadly Conduct, Discharging a Firearm. His bond has been set at $80,000.

According to MCSO, Ayala-Montero has a criminal history, was previously deported from the U.S. and currently has an ICE detainer in place.

An Omaha Police officer and another driver were sent to the hospital after a crash on Interstate 80 Saturday night.

Omaha Police told First Alert 6 an officer, identified as Officer Jason Stinson, was blocking a lane of eastbound I-80 for a road hazard near 13th street with the cruiser’

The driver of the Nissan, identified by OPD as a 25-year-old man, was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

After an investigation, the driver of the Nissan will be booked for DUI in addition to other traffic charges, according to OPD

The Boston Fire Department is mourning the loss of Firefighter Robert “Bobby” T. Kilduff Jr., who tragically died after falling from the third floor of a burning home in Dorchester Saturday night.
Bobby, a member of Rescue Co. 2, suffered severe injuries while battling the blaze at 18 Treadway Road. Despite the heroic efforts of fellow firefighters, Boston EMS, and hospital staff, he passed away at Boston Medical Center. A third-generation firefighter, Bobby dedicated 24 years of service to the people of Boston and was also a proud U.S. Marine veteran. He leaves behind an adult daughter and son, along with an entire city grieving the loss of a true hero.
