Masked pro-democracy protesters marched through Hong Kong in defiance of a ban on face coverings as the city ground to a halt on Saturday, with the subway suspended and many shops shuttered following another night of violence. Thousands of protesters staged unsanctioned marches and flashmob protests at multiple locations, a day after the city's leader outlawed masks at protests, invoking colonial-era emergency powers not used for half a century. The marches came as a group of pro-democracy politicians filed a legal challenge against the government's use of the law, which triggered an overnight rash of widespread violence - including the starting of fires and attacks on an off-duty police officer who fired a live shot in self-defence that injured a 14-year-old boy. The latest acts of resistance came after a night of widespread chaos as hardcore protesters trashed dozens of subway stations, vandalised shops, set fires and blocked roads. #HK
More than 100,000 join pro-Scottish independence march through streets of Edinburgh calling for a second referendum. Groups and organisations who support separation from the UK joined the All Under One Banner (AUOB) procession on Saturday. The 34-year-old from Edinburgh said: 'I'm here to support the cause for independence. I've not really been caught up in the whole Brexit debate, I'm not bothered about that. But I am for another independence referendum, as soon as possible - it should've been ages ago.' The march began at Holyrood Park at 1pm and began proceeding up the Royal Mile from there. Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon did not join the event but said she was there 'in spirit'.

An organization which investigates claims of UFOs and which was co-founded by the lead singer of rock band Blink-182 says it may have physical evidence confirming their existence. โ€˜Our company over the last year and a half has actually obtained quite a bit of material,โ€™ Luis Elizondo of To The Stars Academy of Arts and Science told Fox News. Elizondo is a former Pentagon employee who worked as under secretary of defense for intelligence. He resigned from his job after he says that his bosses prevented him from further pursuing research into โ€˜unusual aerial systems.โ€™ Elizondo joined To the Stars, where he works as director of global security and special programs. ๐Ÿ‘ฝ #UFO

A third of the audience left AMC Empire 25 theater near Times Square, New York, when a troublemaker (left) spat at other patrons and clapped every time Joker killed somebody on screen, witnesses said. But the troublemaker was confronted by a hero dubbed 'V for Vegas' (pictured, right) in the audience who calmly challenged him before security arrived to kick him out. High security has been put in place across the nation ahead of the opening weekend of Joker, as fears mount that the film's depiction of the Batman villain will inspire an incel mass shooter. Some fear that the movie could inspire a copycat of the 2012 Aurora, Colorado theater shooting, where gunman James Holmes killed 12 at the opening weekend of The Dark Night Rises, another Batman film. #fools
