The shooting that left CPD Officer John Bartholomew dead and another officer gravely injured should be a clarion call for lawmakers to amend the SAFE-T Act to mandate detention of dangerous and habitual criminals and end the catastrophic electronic monitoring program. Sadly, they probably won’t.

Changing the law would be an admission that it was a massive overreach in favor of violent criminals that has left hundreds dead and wounded. Look for Governor Pritzker, Mayor Johnson and other progressives to detract us with continued tales of fictitious ICE threats and other political scarecrows.

A shooting that left a Sioux Falls South Dakota police officer injured is spurring law enforcement to renew the call for the state to take a hard look at its parole and prison system as a whole.

Police say two of the individuals police pursued were on parole and had β€œattempt to locates” issued. Sioux Falls and Minnehaha law enforcement have been critical of South Dakota's prison system in its entirety in the past. That came at the forefront amid conversations to build a new state prison in Sioux Falls.

Mike Milstead is the Minnehaha County Sheriff. He said on Tuesday, 114 of 400 inmates in the county jail were on parole holds. He pointed to state statute that says parolees are under Department of Corrections custody until the final day of parole. He’s advocated for taking a hard look at South Dakota’s parole and prison system. He said this shooting is just another reason to call for changes, calling the parole system a "revolving door."

SAFETY SKILLS TRAINING: Our South County Patrol deputies spent the day at Rucker Elementary School in Gilroy helping students learn and practice important β€œCode Red” safety procedures. Fourth and fifth‑grade students rehearsed the β€œrun” protocol by quickly moving to their nearest exit, while Sheriff’s Office staff ensured other classrooms were properly practicing β€œhide” and β€œdefend” techniques.

These drills help empower students and staff to respond safely and confidently in an emergency. We’re proud to partner with our schools to keep our community prepared and protected.

Breaking news: neighborhood β€˜donut champion’ didn’t win over the crowd. While you thought you were putting on a show, the neighbors were calling it in. Traffic Unit found the car, and now it’s parked somewhere a little quieter for the next 30 days. Administrative fees to get it back? About $2,000. Zero bars, zero sympathy.

Two deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s department were hospitalized with serious injuries after a β€œteen takeover” in Orlando, Florida drew over 1000 people to a popular gathering spot for brawls, thefts, and assaults.

But get this: Parents claim officers used β€œunnecessary force” and are demanding the deputies be suspended for apprehending close to a dozen young people resisting arrest after assaulting officers and others.

This is what the war on cops has produced: A society where people don’t just lack respect for law enforcementβ€”they’re openly hostile toward the men and women risking their lives to keep communities safe.

Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for the deputies recoveryπŸ™πŸ»

Deputy David March was shot and killed after stopping a vehicle on Live Oak Avenue just east of Peck Road in Irwindale, California, at approximately 10:40 am.

The subject had stated to friends that he wanted to kill a police officer during a traffic stop and intentionally got stopped. He waited for Deputy March to get in front of his patrol car so he could open fire, as Deputy March would have no place to take cover. Deputy March was shot several times in the head and chest.

The man, who was identified shortly after the shooting, fled to Mexico where he remained for four years. On February 23rd, 2006, he was arrested in Mexico by U.S. Marshals and Mexican federal agents following a joint investigation. He was extradited back to California and on March 2nd, 2007, he pled guilty to second-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Deputy March had served with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for seven years. He is survived by his wife and stepdaughter.

β€œMy goals are simple, I will always be painfully honest, work as hard as I can, learn as much as I can and hopefully make a difference in people’s lives.”
