Whatever youβre going through, you can get through it.
Those are the words Officer Antonio Richardson shared with a young man on Sunday, April 12. The young man was on top of the Dames Point Bridge, ready to take his own life.
Our District 2 and 6 Patrol officers responded to the bridge and spoke directly to the young man, sharing directly from their hearts. In that moment, our officers werenβt the police. They were just people showing how much they care for another person. Thankfully, the young man decided to take Officer Richardsonβs hand and step off the bridge.
We are here for you. We care about you. We do what we do every day because we care about you.
If youβre struggling with thoughts of suicide, pleas reach out to the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988. It is a free resource available to you 24/7.

Please, praying for the Stevens County Sheriffβs deputy who was shot in the line of duty earlier today.ππ»
WA: Stevens County Deputy Injured In Shooting
On 04/28/26 at 02:35 Stevens County 911 Center received a call from an individual stating they observed on camera that someone was breaking into their garage at their residence in Suncrest. The caller was not home at the time and stated no one else had permission to be at the home. Three Stevens County Deputies responded to the scene and arrived at approximately 02:55.
After arriving the deputies determined that the house was locked. They received permission to enter to check the residence. Immediately upon entry, deputies were fired upon. One deputy was struck twice in the upper chest/shoulder area. The injured deputy returned fire and then was extracted from the scene.
A perimeter was set and Stevens County Special Response Team and Spokane County SWAT were called to the scene. A neighborhood alert (Hyper Reach) was sent out to notify of the law enforcement activity. The deputy was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
At approximately 07:35 crises negotiators were able to make contact with the suspect and confirmed he was inside the residence, but the suspect immediately ceased communication. A short time later a drone was deployed into the residence and determined the suspect appeared deceased in a bedroom. Entry was made and it was confirmed that the suspect was injured, possibly with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Life saving measures were attempted by personnel on scene but were unsuccessful.
WSPβs Independent Investigative Team will be taking over lead in the investigation per Washington State law regarding officer involved shootings. The investigation is ongoing. No further media releases or information will be released by the Stevens County Sheriffβs Office.
The injured deputy underwent surgery, is in stable condition, and is expected to make a full recovery.
The Stevens County Sheriffβs Office would like to extend our deep appreciation for our partners at Spokane County Sheriffβs Office, Stevens County Fire District 1, Deer Park Ambulance, Spokane County Fire District 9, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Washington State Patrol, Spokane Police Department, as well as Providence for their excellent medical care.

Today marks two years since the tragic events of April 29, 2024βa day that forever changed our department and the Charlotte community.
As we pause to reflect, we remember the unwavering bravery of every officer who responded that day, our public safety partners who stood by us and the community that came together to support CMPD and our law enforcement partners like never before.
But most importantly, today and every day, we honor the fallen heroes: CMPD Officer Joshua Eyer, Deputy U.S. Marshal Thomas Weeks and N.C. Department of Adult Correction Investigators William Elliott and Samuel Poloche. Their bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
