NEW: Officer Injured in Late-Night Fight Outside East Haven, Connecticut Bar.
In East Haven, what began as a routine bar closing quickly spiraled into violence, leaving an officer assaulted and four individuals under arrest following a chaotic scene outside Rumbaβs Bar on Main Street.
Police say the incident unfolded at approximately 2:04 a.m. on April 12, 2026, as officers assigned to a proactive crime suppression detail monitored a large crowd leaving the establishment. In the rear parking lot, several males were seen arguing before the situation escalated into a physical fight involving four individuals. Officers moved in and issued repeated commands to stop, but those commands were ignored.
During the altercation, one individual broke away and turned toward an officer attempting to restore order, striking the officer multiple times in the face. The officer was taken to the ground, where the assault continued. Authorities say pepper spray was deployed to bring the fight under control. Multiple people, including the injured officer, were treated at the scene by East Haven Fire Department medics.
Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for the officer's recoveryππ»

The University of Tennessee Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its most dedicated officers.
Sgt. Phil Whaley passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He began his service at the University of Tennessee on August 25, 2001, as a Community Service Officer. He completed the law enforcement academy and officially became a police officer with UTPD on August 4, 2003. He later rose to the rank of sergeant.
Whaley led with integrity and humility. He showed genuine care for his colleagues and the entire campus community. The department noted his hard work and clear calling to serve others through the years.
His steady presence left a lasting mark on the University of Tennessee. Colleagues now reflect on the compassion he brought to the job every day. His legacy of quiet dedication continues to inspire those who knew him.
Rest Easy Brother. Prayers for his family of blue and blood.ππ»
