David Sacks: We have no choice but to take the Mythos threat seriously
βAnytime Anthropic is scaring people, you have to ask, is this a tactic, is this part of their chicken little routine, or is it real?
With cyber, I actually would give them credit in this case and say this is more on the real side.
It just makes sense that as the coding models become more and more capable, they're more capable of finding bugs. That means they're more capable of finding vulnerabilities. That means they're more capable of stringing together multiple vulnerabilities and creating an exploit.
I do think that every company, or IT department, or CISO that is managing code bases should take this seriously and use the next few months to detect any dormant bugs or vulnerabilities and rollout patches.
If everybody does their job and reacts the right way, then I do not think it will be the doomsday scenario. But we have no choice but to take this seriously.β

TOTAL LEGEND STOPS SHOOTER IN HIS TRACKS at Pauls Valley High School in Oklahoma.
Principal Kirk Moore somehow saw what was about to happen when a 20 year old former student came into the school with two semi-automatic handguns. Moore tackles the punk immediately - and gets shot in the leg for his trouble. But he saves a girl in the waiting area - and anyone else that the shooter could have had access to reach. This happened a week ago - with video only now being released. 20-year-old Victor Lee Hawkins pointed a gun at students in the lobby, fired shots (one gun reportedly jammed initially), and intended to carry out a mass shooting inspired by Columbine, targeting students, faculty, and then himself. Another staff member helped disarm Hawkins. No students or other staff were injured. Principal Moore was hospitalized in stable condition, treated (including a medevac flight), released a few days later, and has been recovering at home. He has been widely praised as a hero by the community, law enforcement, and students. The shooter reportedly admitted his plans to investigators.
Wishing a full and quick recovery to Kirk Moore!ππ»

On Sunday, April 12, 2026, at approximately 8:15 p.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a report of climbers in need of assistance on the Naked Edge climbing route in Eldorado Canyon State Park.
A group of three climbers reported they were unable to continue their ascent after losing their route and not having headlamps as darkness fell. The lead climber was positioned on pitch five of the route, while the two additional climbers remained on pitch four. The climbers encountered challenges with rope management and pace, resulting in becoming delayed on the route after nightfall.
Rocky Mountain Rescue Group (RMRG) responded to the technical rescue, and Boulder Emergency Squad (BES) aided with drone support. Rescuers were able to maintain visual contact with one of the lower climbers via drone, while additional rescuers worked to assist the lead climber. Verbal contact was established with the climbers at approximately 10:19 p.m.
Rescuers reached the first climber at approximately 10:30 p.m. and provided warming supplies. A rescuer rappelled approximately 105 feet to reach the two lower climbers, securing them at approximately 11:31 p.m.The two climbers on the lower pitch were then assisted in ascending the final pitch of the route, completing the technical portion of the climb at approximately 12:58 a.m. All three climbers safely returned to the trailhead at approximately 2:25 a.m.
The Boulder County Sheriffβs Office would like to remind outdoor enthusiasts of several important safety considerations. Climbers attempting long or technical routes should carefully manage their time and ensure they have a realistic plan to complete their objective well before dark. Always carry reliable headlamps with extra batteries, even for routes expected to be completed during daylight hours. Additionally, climbers should bring sufficient food and water to sustain themselves in the event of delays, as well as appropriate layers to stay warm in rapidly changing mountain weather conditions. Mild daytime temperatures can quickly become cold and hazardous after sunset.
The Boulder County Sheriffβs Office would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the dedicated volunteers of Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and Boulder Emergency Squad, whose skill, coordination, and commitment were instrumental in the successful outcome of this rescue. Their willingness to respond at all hours and in challenging conditions continues to make our community safer.
Agencies assisting with the rescue effort included: Boulder County Sheriffβs Office Emergency Services Unit, Boulder Emergency Squad, and Rocky Mountain Rescue Group. Drone footage courtesy of BES.

WATCH: Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Scott Bessent, and Kelly Loeffler Brief Members of the Media
"As we have seen this tax season, POTUS' Working Families Tax Cuts have put a historic amount of money back into the pockets of the American people," says PressSec.
"More than 53 million filers claimed at least one of President Trump's signature new tax cuts...the Trump administration has issued more refunds, and larger refunds, than in any year of the history of our country."
SecScottBessent says more than 45% of tax returns filed so far have had at least one of President Trump's signature new tax cuts claimed:
"We have had 5 million families file for Trump Accounts for their children. 1.2 million of those are eligible for the $1,000 seed bonus."
"This is a great day for the American people."
SecScottBessent with the stats on how the American people are taking advantage of President Trump's tax cut:
β Over 6 million filers have claimed No Tax on Tips, with an average deduction of over $7,100.
β Over 25 million filers have claimed No Tax on Overtime, with an average deduction of over $3,100.
β Over 30 million seniors have claimed the Enhanced Deduction for Seniors, with an average deduction of over $7,500.
β Over 1 million filers have deducted No Tax on Car Loan Interest on their new American vehicles, with an average deduction of over $1,800.
SBA Kelly on the positive effects of POTUS' historic tax cut on small businesses:
"12M small businesses have an average tax saving of $7,000. The 20% small business pass-through deduction is now permanent, offering them certainty...and the rocket fuel to create 1M new jobs."
PressSec: The allegations against former Rep. Swalwell are despicable. I think it's also quite plausible that many Democrats knew about his behavior β so why were they silent? Those are questions that must be raised of these sitting representatives, including Sen. Ruben Gallego.
SecScottBessent: "I am very optimistic that Kevin Warsh will be the Chair of the Fed on time."
SBA_Kelly: "The long-term trend under President Trump has been for small business optimism to be above its 52-year average. Under Joe Biden, small business optimism fell below that average for 34 consecutive months because small business was being crushed..."
PressSec: I saw some bad reporting this morning that we had formally requested an extension of the ceasefire. That is not true at this moment.
"We feel good about the prospects of a deal... and it's obviously in the best interest of Iran to meet POTUS' demands."
SecScottBessent: One of the what may prove to be fatal mistakes that the Iranians made was bombing their GCC neighbors, who are now willing to be much more transparent in terms of the funds that are held within their banking systems. We have pushed out to them the request that we want to freeze more funds of the leadership of the IRGC.
SecScottBessent on sanctions waivers: "We will not be renewing the general license on Russian oil and we will not be renewing the general license on Iranian oil. That was oil that was on the water prior to March 11."
SecScottBessent: This is a home run in terms of what's happening with these folks. We expect that there are many filers who have used more than one of those 4 signature tax cuts β No Tax on Tips, Overtime, Social Security, American-made Car Loan Interest.
PressSec on the blockade of Iran: "It has been fully implemented, and it's being enforced against vessels of all nations entering or departing Iranian ports... This includes all Iranian ports on the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Omanβ and our U.S. forces in the region are supporting the freedom of navigation for vessels that are transiting the Strait to and from non-Iranian ports."
PressSec: "Long after everyone in this room is gone, our children and our grandchildren will remain inspired by this national monument." πΊπΈ

California's ongoing war on the oil and gas industry has led to a potential fuel crisis, prompting seven draft Executive Orders to be sent to President Donald J. Trump. These orders aim to ensure the United States has the necessary fuels from California for national security. USC Professor Michael Mische and his co-authors argue that California's Governor and Legislature have proven incapable or unwilling to address the self-created fuel crisis. The proposed Executive Orders include allowing offshore oil production, revoking the Low Carbon Fuel Standard, removing state and local control on oil reserves, and directing California refineries to increase jet and diesel fuel production. The authors believe the U.S., California, and global security would benefit from these measures. The key question is whether the federal government will step in to address California's fuel crisis and its impact on national security.
