This afternoon Deputy Artzer left the hospital with an escort from his family (both related and Team DCSO). At the DCSO, we support one another, through the good and bad, as a family. Deputy Artzer has a road to recovery ahead of him, and our Deputies and peer-support team will ensure he heals, both physically and mentally.
Thank you to the community for supporting our Deputies throughout yesterday’s event. Your support means a lot to our Deputies, who put their lives on the line every day serving Douglas County. We cannot ask for a better county and community to serve. Thank you as well to Omaha Police Department , Nebraska State Patrol, the Boys Town Police Department for their coordination and rapid response yesterday. Thank you as well to the professional medical team at Bergan Hospital for their expert care.

BREAKING: Two people, including one child, were killed in a shooting Monday afternoon at the Elko Regional Airport in Nevada.
The Elko Police Department reported Monday afternoon that the airport was closed to all traffic as they investigated a "crime scene," but they did not initially specify what happened.
Police later confirmed there was an active shooter situation around 12:30 p.m., which resulted in two deaths from gunshot wounds. One of the people killed was a minor, and they believe the other was the suspect. The relationship between the two has not yet been confirmed.
Police said they have found the suspect and there is no threat to the community.

Today St.Louis City Police Officer, District 2 Officer Gregory Triplett was laid to rest.
Officer Triplett passed away Wednesday, April 1, after experiencing a medical emergency during a training exercise. Officer Triplett faithfully served the citizens of St. Louis and the SLMPD for nearly 32 years.

We are now honoring Cpl. Torey Phelps, who died in the line of duty on December 24, 2025, after suffering a fatal heart attack at home following a shift during which he responded to multiple calls.
Cpl. Phelps served with the Moline Acres Police Department. He left behind his teenage son and loving family.
Our hearts are with Cpl. Phelps’ family, friends, co-workers, and all the communities and lives he touched.
