Here is something to be aware of: Go check mexico news- there is something else that needs to be reported on: significant and developing crisis. As of early April 2026, Mexico is indeed experiencing a "megabloqueo" (mega-blockade) led by a coalition of truckers and farmers.
This is a breakdown of what is happening on the ground and why it matters for supply chains:
The Strike & Blockades
On April 6, 2026, the National Truckers Association (ANTAC) and the National Front for the Rescue of the Mexican Countryside (FNRCM) launched a nationwide strike.
Key Action: Protesters have set up blockades on major federal highways, including routes connecting Mexico City to Queretaro, Puebla, and the U.S. border.
Status: While the Mexican government has managed to clear some blockades using the National Guard and negotiations, several remain active in states like Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, and Michoacรกn.
The Security Crisis (Cartels & Insecurity)
The primary driver for this strike is exactly what you mentioned: rampant insecurity.
Theft & Violence: Trucking associations report an average of 40 cargo robberies per day. Cartels are increasingly targeting agricultural shipments not just for the goods, but to extort "tolls" (illegal taxes) from the drivers.
Police Inaction: A major grievance from the strikers is that local and federal authorities are either unable to intervene or, in some cases, accused of extortion themselves at unofficial checkpoints.
Demands: The strikers are demanding the permanent deployment of the National Guard on "red zone" highways and direct intervention from the presidency to stop the disappearances of drivers and theft of rigs.
Impact on Fresh Produce
The timing is particularly critical for the U.S. market, which relies heavily on Mexican imports during the winter and early spring.
Spoilage: Reports indicate that perishable goodsโincluding berries, tomatoes, and avocadosโare spoiling in idling trucks stuck at blockades or border crossings.
Price Hikes: The combination of recent U.S. tariffs on Mexican trucks and these supply chain disruptions is expected to cause a noticeable increase in the price of fresh vegetables and fruits in American grocery stores over the coming weeks.
Farmer Struggles: Mexican farmers are also protesting "unfair" import rules and the rising cost of diesel, claiming they are being squeezed between high production costs and cartel extortion.
The government maintains that they are open to dialogue, but the protesters have accused authorities of using intimidation tactics and "strikebreakers" to end the movement, which has only increased tensions on the highways.

The real reason for the โhigh speed railโ is money-laundering to bureaucrats, consultants & unions, not actually transport. That is where the billions spent so far have gone.
That is why they donโt want an actually cost-efficient high speed transport system.

As directed by DAG Todd Blanche, my office will seek the death penalty for the following three MS-13 members charged with murdering a law enforcement cooperator.
Dennis Anaya Urias, 27, Grevil Zelaya Santiago, 26, and Roberto Carlos Aguilar, 31, all of South Los Angeles, are charged with one count of murder in aid of racketeering and two counts of conspiracy to retaliate against a witness or informant. These defendants have been in federal custody since May 2025 and are scheduled to go to trial on July 21.
Urias and Aguilar are Salvadoran nationals. Urias has a green card. Aguilar is an illegal alien. Santiago is an illegal alien from Honduras.
According to court documents, Urias and Santiago fatally shot the victim at a grocery store in South L.A. on February 18, 2025. The victimโs status as a government cooperator was well known by MS-13 and made the victim subject to a โgreen lightโ order that made him a target for murder by MS-13 members.
Approximately one hour before the victimโs death, he had what appeared to be a chance encounter with Aguilar inside the grocery store. Following that encounter, Aguilar set in motion a series of events that led to Urias and Santiago murdering the victim.
Thugs and terrorists will find no shelter under this administration. If you take someoneโs life, then you will forfeit your own.
